- Silvia Marie Platter, 85, of Grantsville, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville. Born May 26, 1931, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Harry Peck and Sarah (Wilt) Wilt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Foster Platter; one brother, Russell Wilt; three sisters, Bertha Handwerk, Leora Bittinger and Goldie Wilburn. Mrs. Platter was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Brethren. She is survived by one son, Vernon Platter, Grantsville; four sisters, Pearl Robertson, Novelty, Ohio, Elmeda Kitzmiller, Marshall, Va., Peggy Wilburn, Grantsville, and Dolly Drees, Frostburg. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
