"C. V. TIPSWORD PASSED AWAY TUESDAY"

"C. V. (Mana) Tipsword, who has been in failing health the past several months, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday."

"Mr. Tipsword became alarmed about his condition some time ago and after consulting several physicians finally decided to submit to an operation at the Effingham hospital. The operation disclosed a condition that medical science was unable to conquer."

"A few weeks later, he was able to return home and make a visit to all his children. On Tuesday of last week, he became quite ill and gradually grew weaker until called to his reward."

"Mr. Tipsword was a staunch Democrat and a loyal worker for his party. He only aspired to office one time when he was elected road commissioner of Louden (sic) Township."

"He was always interested in the topics of the day and kept himself well informed on current events."

      OBITUARY

"Clemit V. Tipsword, son of Isaac and Agnes Tipsword, was born in Moccasin township on February 28, 1866 and departed this life at 1:30 p.m. on November 5, 1935, aged 69 years, 8 months, and 8 days."

Most of his life was spent in Louden (sic) township, Fayette County, where he became a very successful farmer and stock raiser."

"He was united in marriage to Amanda A. Durbin on June 15, 1886. To this union were born eleven children: four boys and seven girls, all living. They are: Pearl I, Beecher City; Mrs. Lora C. Starkey, Rantoul; Joseph L., Monticello; Mrs. Florence A. Peifer, Beecher City; Mrs. Mayme A. Shannon, Deland; Mrs. Minnie A. Cresap, Monticello; Mrs. Geneva B. Fortner, Monticello; Leo C., Beecher City; Mrs. Ruth B. Jackson, Beecher City, Mrs. Thelma G. Phillips, Beecher City, and William Delno, Detroit, Mich."

"About eighteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Tipsword confessed faith in Christ and united with the Methodist Church at Donaldson, southwest of this city."

"About six years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Tipsword retired from the farm and moved to the present home in Beecher City, where the angel of death first entered their home on January 10, 1932 and called his devoted wife and companion to her Heavenly reward."

"On April 1, 1933, Mr. Tipsword was married to Mrs. Lucy Clark, who made the remainder of his days as pleasant and comfortable as possible. 'Mana,' as Mr. Tipsword was familiarly known to his host of friends, was a good neighbor and a true friend, who never turned from any individual who needed his help or encouragement."

"He is survived by his wife, 11 children; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Monroe of Sorento and William of Reno; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Jones of Fontanet, Ind. and Mrs Viola Lilly of Chicago; and a large circle of other relatives and friends, who deeply mourn his passing."

"He is not dead but sleeping
Night came and released him from labor.
When a hand came out of the darkness
      Touched him and he slept."

"We saw not the lift of the curtain
      Nor heard the invisible door.
As he passed where life's problems
Will follow and vex him no more."

      "Tired! Ah, Yes! So tired,
      He shall soundly sleep tonight.
With never a dream, never a fear
      To waken in heaven's light."

      "Sleep on, dear Father,
      And take your rest,
      God called thee home,
      He thought it best."

      FUNERAL SERVICES

"Funeral services will be conducted in the Methodist Church at 2 p.m. this afternoon by Rev. A. E. Kretzer. Interment will be in the Beecher City Cemetery."
