GILMORE — Agatha Mary Warnick, 93, of Gilmore, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009. Born May 19, 1916, at Avilton, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert J. and Mary C. (Weimer) Colmer. She has now joined her beloved husband of 64 years, Harry Thomas Warnick, who died on Dec. 11, 1998. Mrs. Warnick was also predeceased by an infant sister, Mary Magdalene Colmer, and by a brother, Edward L. Colmer. Mrs. Warnick is survived by seven children, Ronald T. Warnick and his wife Pat, of Spokane, Wash., Harry J. Warnick and his wife Ruth, of Springfield, W.Va., Stephen E. Warnick, of Vinton, Va., Dr. John G. Warnick and his wife Ina, of Ridgeley, W.Va., Michael R. Warnick and his wife Helen Ann, of Frostburg, Helen M. Vazquez and her husband Manuel, of Tucson, Ariz., and Molly A. Deniker and her husband Paul, of Accident; eleven beloved grandchildren, Lisa D. Jenkins and her husband Mark, of Springfield, W.Va., Sue L. Barnes and her husband Scott, of Springfield, W.Va., Lara S. Warnick, of Converse, Texas, Connie R. Warnick, of Gotha, Fla., Daniel S. Warnick, of Decatur, Ga., David S. Warnick, of Lonaconing, Lauren M. Read and her husband Brian, of Frostburg, Christian E. Bailey and his wife Tammy, of Tucson, Ariz., Matthew S. Bailey, of Philadelphia, Pa., Karina M. Deniker, of Accident, and Patrick M. Deniker, of Accident. Mrs. Warnick also leaves behind her eleven great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Welch, Kyle Wagoner, Zane Wagoner, Levi Barnes, Mikhaela Barnes, Raequel Barnes, T. Michael Blazge, Kathryn Blazge, Joshua Bailey, Andrew Bailey, and Leigha Read. Also surviving are a brother, John J. Colmer and his wife Rosemary, of Frostburg; a sister-in-law, Edna Atkinson, of Frostburg; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Warnick graduated from Central High School as valedictorian in 1932 at the age of 16. She thoroughly enjoyed her high school years and was faithful in attending the Central Alumni Reunion held every June. After high school, she worked briefly as a secretary at the Althouse Coal Company until her marriage. Then she devoted all her time and talents to homemaking, raising her family, and helping her husband with the family farm in Gilmore. In 1974, after her family was grown, Mrs. Warnick became a volunteer at Frostburg Community Hospital where she worked primarily in the medical records department. The hospital honored her in 1986 for logging over 3,000 hours of volunteer service. Mrs. Warnick was a 60-year member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Midland. The family will receive friends at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home in Midland on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. by Deacon Fred Passauer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Midland, with the Rev. James Hannon officiating. Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Avilton, and will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1, Midland, MD 21542, or to the George’s Creek Regional Library, 76 Main St., Lonaconing, MD 21539.
