He was born Feb. 3, 1866, a son of Solomon and Catherine (Garlitz) Albright. He is survived by his wife, Amanda (Enfield) Albright; two sons, William and Walter; four daughters, Mary Belle Meese, Ida Catherine Kennell, Maggie May Boyd and Emma Bevich, and by 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Surviving also are three sisters - Alice Evora Paul, Florence Heining and Pearl Elizabeth Paonessa. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 24, at 2 o'clock in the Garrett Reformed Church, with Rev. F. D. Witmer of Berlin officiating. Interment was made in Highland Cemetery, Garrett. Garrett, Pa., June 14 — Mrs. Louise (Albright) Romesburg, 72, widow of Mahlon Romesburg, died Sunday evening at her home here after an extended illness. She was a daughter of Solomon and Catherine (Garlitz) Albright and was born in Greenville Township, Somerset county. Her husband passed away six years ago. A son, Glenn Romesberg, also preceded her to the grave. Surviving are these children: Mrs. Albert Judy, Carl and James Romesberg, all of Garrett; Harry Romesberg, Canton, O.; Spurgean and Joseph Romesberg, both of Meyersdale; Mrs. William Sipe and Mrs. Andrew McQuade, both of Central City. Mrs. Romesberg was a sister of Charles Albright of Frostburg, Md. She also leaves 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the J. N. Mr. Albright retired about 10 years ago, and several years ago became totally blind. He lived all his life in the same vicinity. He was born October 18, 1872, son of Solomon and Catherine (Garlitz) Albright, and was aged 73 years, 10 months and 7 days. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Caton) Albright; one son, Simon Albright; one daughter, Mrs. Nannie Caton, and one brother, Daniel Albright of Garrett. Funeral services were conducted in the Hostetler Church of the Brethren on Sunday, July 28 at 2:00 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. J. Ewing Jones, officiating. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a life member of the Eastern Garrett County Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary. Born June 1, 1924, in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Minnie (McKenzie) Caton. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur McKenzie, on Jan. 25, 1990. Mrs. McKenzie was retired from the housekeeping department of the Frostburg Village Nursing Home, and formerly worked at the Celanese Fibers Corporation. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg. Surviving are four brothers, Clarence Caton, Frostburg, Anthony Caton, Junction City, Ohio, Lawrence Caton, Lancaster, Ohio, and Stanley Caton, Oldtown; four sisters, Leona Kitis, Finzel, Irene Ramhoff, Finzel, Isabel Minick, Frostburg, and May McKenzie, Finzel; one aunt, Mabel McKenzie Cutter, Finzel; and one uncle, Corbett McKenzie, Finzel; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Winners, Console, and Betty McKenzie, Finzel; and numerous nieces and nephews. FINZEL — Irene Arlena Ramhoff, 85, of Finzel, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born June 1st, 1926 in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Simon Caton and Minnie McKenzie. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roy “Duke” Ramhoff; two sisters, Mary McKenzie and husband Arthur, and Leona Kitis and husband Fritz; and three brothers, Clarence “Bud” Caton, Carl Caton, and Herbert Caton. Irene was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and loved going to church with her sister Mary. She worked at Kroger’s Market in Pittsburgh, Pa., before returning to Finzel to raise Richard in a better environment. On returning to Finzel she worked at the Hen House Restaurant on Long Stretch and also the Silver Leaf in Frostburg. Irene above all else was a very special mother to Richard. She cherished every day that she had with him. Teaching him and comforting him through his whole life. She loved being a homemaker and lived a long and happy life. FROSTBURG — George W. “Bill” McKenzie, age 82, died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center. Born Sept. 7, 1927, in Frostburg, Bill resided with his brother and sister-in-law, Coby and Connie McKenzie’s Finzel Road home following their passing until his death. Bill was the son of the late James N. McKenzie and Oma A. (Caton) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was also preceded in death by his two brothers, James Coby McKenzie and Jack McKenzie; and three sisters, Helen Weimer, Blanche Shockey and Mary Hartman. Bill worked for years with his brother Coby cutting pulpwood and at Lutz’s Meat Market until his retirement. He loved to hunt, pick huckleberries in the swamp, watch softball games, watch westerns on television and enjoyed going out to eat. Bill was friendly, happy and smiled all the time. He called everyone, “Ol Buddy.” He was loved by all who knew him. He was given special loving care by his special nephews, Marvin, Gail, Darvin and Darrell McKenzie; and his special niece, Alice Snyder. He is survived by one sister, Edna Raley, Baltimore; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Joan Leake Caton and five children: Clifford Michael “Mike” Caton and his partner, Colleen Peterson; Linda Caton Denton and her partner, Dave Gentry; William “Billy” Caton and his wife, Bridget; Deborah “Debbie” Caton Kyle and her husband, Darren; and Lisa Caton Smith and her husband, Delton. In retirement, he found great pleasure in working in his large vegetable garden and tending to many dogs that found their way to his home. FINZEL - Mary Ann "Annie" Schartiger, 68, of Finzel, passed away, Thursday, August 16, 2018, at her residence.
Born April, 29, 1950, at Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Clifford George & Verna Mary (McKenzie) Caton.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Clifford "Junie" Caton, James "Jum" Caton, Virgil "Buzz" Caton, Thomas "Tommy" Caton and one sister, Sylvia "Sylvie" Hunter. Mrs. Schartiger was a restaurant manager at Grantsville Holiday Inn and also worked at Rocky Gap. She was part owner of GB Liquors and M&M Loggers. Surviving is her husband, Larry D. Schartiger; four sons, Gilbert Donald (Barbara) Wilhelm Jr., Dwight David (Erin) Wilhelm Sr., Bryan Dean (Diane) Wilhelm, Howard Trilson (Rebecca) Wilhelm; two daughters, Delana Jane (Vance Kaloz) Wilhelm, Twila Mae (Brett) Shelley; one step-son, Randy (Karen) Schartiger; two step-daughters, Sherry (Chuck Miller) Schartiger, Connie (Mike) Jones; three sisters, Evelyn "Duddy" Short, Emma Thorn, Nancy "Curly" Wilhelm; 14 grandchildren, Gilbert (Beth) Wilhelm III, Jacy (Jason) Humberson, Kara Achouri, Dwight David Wilhel Jr., Dawson Wilhelm, Delilah Wilhelm, Gracy Mae Wilhelm, Bryan Edward Wilhelm, Howard Wilhelm, Brittany Golden, Carly Shaw, Johnny Golden, Reed Clifford Shelley, Lana Jane Shelley; three great-grandchildren, Kinlynn, Lyla and Owen. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller Street, Grantsville, on Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 1-4 pm. Services will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Per her wishes, cremation will follow.
