Cumberland, MD-Leona Catherine (Wilt) Chisholm, 87, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born February 7, 1927, in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Delbert A. Wilt and Bertha M. (Lee) Wilt. Mrs. Chisholm was also preceded in death by her husband: Abram E. “Buck” Chisholm, 1987; a brother: Walter L. Wilt; and an infant sister: Beulah Wilt. A homemaker, Leona was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1945. She was a former employee of Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber Company, GC Murphy Co., Montgomery Ward, the Undergarment Factory and Tri-State Discount Center. Leona faithfully attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She had a sharp wit and sense of humor. She never met a stranger. Mom was very special to us; she loved her family with all her heart. She was devoted to them and she was the center of their lives. She enjoyed family gatherings and holidays spent with the family. Leona is survived by two sons: James Chisholm and wife Janet, Cumberland, MD; and Denny Chisholm and wife Irene, Cumberland, MD; three daughters: Joyce Miller, Cumberland, MD; Vicki Chisholm, Cumberland, MD; and Gail Smith, Ft. Ashby, WV; a sister: Mildred (Wilt) Weatherford, Fredericksburg, VA; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Chisholm, Matthew Chisholm, both of Cumberland, MD; David Miller, Jr., Cumberland, MD; Stacey Robertson and husband B.J., Cumberland, MD; Christopher Smith, II, Ft. Ashby, WV; Emily Smith, Cumberland, MD; Candi Huff and fiancé Ryan Davis, Cumberland, MD; and Lorelei Huff, Cumberland, MD; and six great-grandchildren: Tyler Miller, Bethany Robertson, Ken'Yen Smith, Kamylah Smith, and Noah and Landon Davis. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Rodney Casteel officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
