Roy DeVore

Frostburg - Roy DeVore, 74, of 214 Armstrong Avenue, died Sunday at Miners Hospital. Born at Grahamtown, he was a son of the late Johnson and Aurelia (Crowe) DeVore. Mr. DeVore was a veteran of World War I and was a retired maintenance employe of the Frostburg Post Office. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the JOUAM of Frostburg. Surviving are his widow, Gilberta (Griffith) Devore; a daughter, Miss Anna M. DeVore, at home; four brothers, Johnson, Victor and Dewey DeVore, all of Frostburg, and Leonard DeVore, Detroit, Mich.; and five sisters, Mrs. Ernest Plummer, Mrs. Emory Plummer, and Mrs. John Tomlinson, all of Frostburg; Mrs. James Taylor, Palm Bay, Fla., and Mrs. John Wolfe, Chambersburg, Pa. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home by Rev. Kenneth E. Morelock. Burial will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Roy and Harry DeVore, Vernon Poole, George Buckalew, Howard Plummer and John Tomlinson. The Cumberland News, January 18, 1965

Anna Martha DeVore, 91, of LaVale, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born September 22, 1922 in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Roy and Gilberta (Griffith) DeVore. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Frostburg, and a past president of the Women of ELCA. She served on the church council and was president for many years of the Anna Mayer class of the church. Anna Martha graduated from Beall High School and Frostburg State College. As a first grade teacher, she taught five years in Carroll County, and twenty-nine years in Allegany County. She was a member of the Allegany County and Maryland Retired Teachers Associations and a member of Beta Sigma Phi currently serving as treasurer. She was a past member of the House and Garden Club of Frostburg. Surviving are cousins; Paul J. Stakem and wife Mary Clare, Cumberland, William F. Stakem and wife Susan, Michael P. Stakem and wife Diane, Cumberland, Linda Fields and husband Bobbie, Ellerslie, Sharon Emerick, Ellerslie, Nancy Puglio and husband Bob, Florida, Doug Puglio; Godsons, Brad and Seth Puglio; her close friend, Erma Robertson and her dearest companion dog, Muffy.
