    Notes:

Two pedestrians were admitted to Miners' Hospital yesterday within an hour after being victims of similar mishaps on West Main Street, within a distance of a block. The first victim at 1:30 p. m. was a near-blind 63-year-old man, Reginald Crowe, and the second, a 71-year-old matron, Mrs. Clementine Jones, who entered the hospital at 2:30 p. m. Both were struck by motor vehicles, Crowe by an automobile at the Main and Water Street intersection, and Mrs. Jones by a truck at Broadway and Main Streets. Hospital attaches said that they were informed that Crowe, who walks with a white cane, stepped from the sidewalk directly in the path of a car operated by Daniel McMurdo, Clarysville. McMurdo, said to be traveling at a slow speed, stopped and assisted the man into his car and took him to Miners' Hospital, where he was treated for slight bruises on one of his hands. He left the hospital later in the day. Crowe resides with his brother, Former Mayor Frederick Crowe, a member of the Allegany County Liquor Control Board. Mrs. Jones, struck by a truck operated by Gordon Morgan, Carlos, remained in the hospital today for observation after complaining of pains on the side of her head. Police said that Morgan, whose car was making a turn at the street Intersection, was driving at a very slow rate of speed, and that he stopped immediately. City Police Donald Griffith took the woman to the hospital in an automobile. Mrs. Jones, a resident of National, is the mother of Joseph William Jones, Midland, whose family is being aided by the Jones Fund while he and his wife and daughter are patients at the State Sanitarium, Sabillasvllle.
