Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Minnick, Wilmington Del.; Mrs. James Dawson, Washington; Mrs. George Drew, Midlothian, and Mrs. Clifford Bevan Jr., Frostburg; four sons, Raymond Layman, Shaft; Charles and Paul Layman, both of Baltimore, and George Layman, Frostburg; five sisters, Mrs. Nellie Byrnes, Mrs. Samuel Neat, and Mrs. Joseph Koelker, all of Cumberland; Mrs. C. J. Wolfe, Hagerstown, and Mrs. Fuller Davis, Frostburg; two brothers, Benjamin Layman, Syracuse, N. Y., and Lawrence Layman, Alexandria, Va.; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a retired Celanese worker and a member of Shaft Methodist Church. The body is at the residence, where services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p. m. Rev.     Mildred L. Minnick, 98, of New Castle and formerly of Lewes, passed away in Wilmington Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, after a long illness. Mildred was born Oct. 16, 1907, in Frostburg, Md. She was employed by Amalgamated Leather Co. until her retirement in 1972. Previously, Mrs. Minnick was employed by Delaware Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lewes for 18 years. In her earlier years, she attended Holloway Terrace Baptist Church in New Castle, where she taught Sunday School from 1950 to 1959. Her beloved husband of 56 years, Gilbert Minnick, passed away in 1983. She is survived by two sons, Paul Minnick of Elsmere and Ronald Minnick of Lewes. Burial was in Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1442, Loyal Order of Moose #348, Old Rail Post V.F.W. #6025, Mount Savage, and Farrady Post #24 American Legion where he was a 50-year member, served on the Honor Guard, and twice served as Post Commander.
