Harry O. Miller, Grantsville, died Dec. 4, 1974, in Meyersdale Community Hospital. A native of Grantsville, he was a son of the late George W. and Sarah (Crowe) Miller. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Nancy (Shaw) Miller. Mr. Miller was a forest warden in Garrett County, Md., for 40 years and was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lula (Warnick) Miller; a son, Mark W. Miller, Birmingham, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Dixon, Laurel, Md.; Mrs. Rose Monahan, Frostburg; and Mrs. Frances Michael, Grantsville; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother, George W. Miller, Keyser, W. Va. Funeral service was conducted Saturday afternoon in St. John's United Church of Christ, Grantsville, with the Rev. Douglas Garland officiating. December 13, 2007 - Cumberland Times-News - FROSTBURG - Helen Marie (Miller) Dixon, 94, formerly of Frostburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2007 at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville. Born Nov. 8, 1913, in Jennings, she was the daughter of the late Harry O. and Nancy (Shaw) Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold William Dixon, July 7, 1959; her step-mother, Lulu (Warnick) Miller; and two sisters, Melva Miller and Rose Monahan. Mrs. Dixon was a registered nurse for Public Health in Garrett and Howard Counties. She graduated from the University of Maryland, School of Nursing in 1935. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Laurel, where she resided for over 50 years. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca S. Reed, Portsmouth, N.H.; a brother, Mark Miller, Jackson, Mich.; one sister, Frances Michael, Grantsville; two grandchildren, Ryan D. Reed and Jaime L. Reed; and a great grandson, Ryan W. Reed. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Sorenson officiating. Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Johns Hopkins Hospital, Wilmer Eye Clinic for Macular Degeneration Research.
She was buried on 15 Dec 2007 in Blooming Rose Cemetery, Garrett Co., Maryland.
