FROSTBURG - Walter E. Crowe Sr., 74, of 88 Frost Village, died Saturday in Frostburg Community Hospital. A native of Midlothian, he was a son of the late Nelson and Eveline (Stevey) Crowe. His wife, Nannie (Arnold) Crowe, preceded him in death. Mr. Crowe was a member of the Frostburg Senior Citizens. Surviving are four sons, Walter E. Crowe Jr., and Larry Crowe, both of Hoffman; James Crowe, Cumberland, and Wayne Crowe, New York; five daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Garlitz, Consol; Mrs. Nancy Cutter, Beall School Road; Linda Gray, Ridgeley, W. Va.; Mrs. Betty Fazenbaker, Hoffman, and Mrs. Faith Korns, Midlothian; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Cole, California, and Mrs. Gladys Largent, Texas; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ammis Cole, Syracuse, N.Y., and Mrs. Gladys Largent, Texas; and a brother, Walter Crowe, Midlothian. Services were conducted today at 1 p.m. at the Hafer-Sowers Funeral Home by Rev. George L. Wehler. Interment was in the Eckhart Cemetery. MIDLOTHIAN — Faith E. Korns, “Dookie,” CB handle “The Leader,” 63, of Midlothian, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born March 17, 1933, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Nannie (Arnold) Crowe. She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Rebecca Ellen Leece; and two sisters, Linda Gray and Rosemary Garlitz. Mrs. Korns was a Salvation Army Soldier. She was a member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and Home League, and the Salvation Army was her church. She was a leader in the Salvation Army Senior Citizens and cooked for the children and seniors of the Salvation Army Corps Community Center on many occasions. She did this “As unto the Lord.” She was a member of the Cumberland REACT Team since 1977. She was the matriarch of the whole family. Her children and family will miss her very much. Surviving are her husband, Luther A. Korns; one son, Gregory Korns and wife Sharon, Salisbury, Pa.; two daughters, Rosalinda Kathleen Long and husband Charles David Long Sr., California, Md., and Valerie Ellen Korns-Palmer, Marble, N.C.; six grandchildren, Gregory Allen Korns Jr., Cary Korns, Annette Korns, Jennifer and Shawn, and Charles David Long Jr.; four brothers, Walter Crowe Jr. and wife Phyllis, Hoffman, Larry Crowe, Hoffman, James Crowe and wife Vickie, LaVale, and Wayne Crowe and wife Pat, New York City; and two sisters, Nancy Cutter, Frostburg, and Betty Fazenbaker, Hoffman. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg. Services will be conducted at the Salvation Army, 701 E. First St., Cumberland, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Major Robert S. FROSTBURG — Walter E. Crowe Jr., 75, of Hoffman Hollow Road, Frostburg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at his home. Born Aug. 22, 1936, in Frostburg to the late Walter Crowe and Nannie (Arnold) Crowe; he is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Crowe; and four sisters, Linda Gray, Faith Korns, Rosemary Garlitz and Nancy Cutter. Mr. Crowe was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Baughman Construction, Hout Construction and retired from I.A. Construction Company. He loved to play softball and played for many area teams; also helped to get the Lions Field started. Walt loved to work with wood, making lawn and holiday decorations until his eyesight started to fail. He was a wonderful husband and father. Walt is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis (Meek) Crowe; they would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on March 15, 2012; two daughters whom he loved dearly and who took such good care of him, Julie Ann and Denise Lynn, both at home. He is also survived by his two brothers, Jim Crowe and wife Vickie, of LaVale, and Wayne Crowe and wife Pat, of Florida; a sister, Betty Fazenbaker-Hoffman; his sister-in-law, Patricia Sandvik, of Edgewater, and several nieces and nephews. Walt requested to be cremated, there will be no viewing. A private burial will be held at a later date. We want to thank special friends, Leo Harden and Harold Skidmore for their visits. Born Dec. 14, 1939, in Frostburg, Nancy was the daughter of the late Walter Crowe and Nannie Nae (Arnold) Crowe. Nancy was also preceded in death by her her husband, Roy L. Cutter in 1995; three sisters, Linda Kay Gray, Rosemary Garlitz and Faith Korns; and one brother, Larry Crowe. Mrs. Cutter was retired from the Route 40 School, where she worked in the cafeteria. Nancy was a member of Saint Michael Church, Frostburg. She is survived by six children, Janice Friend and husband Thomas, Shirley Cutter, Roy Cutter Jr., Brenda Friend and husband Harry, Donna Deal and husband David and Russell Cutter; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Judy and husband Jansen, Thomas Friend and wife Stefanee, Scott Cutter, Christopher Cutter and fiancee Anika, Patrick Cutter, Harry Friend, Stephen Friend and wife Stephanie, Derek Cutter, Dustin Rouch and Spring Rouch; and eight great-grandchildren, Zachary Judy, Benjamin Judy, Ally Friend, Thomas Friend, Marcus Cutter, Isabella Friend, Estella Friend and Stephen Friend.
