Mrs. Harriet Crowe, an aged and most respected lady, residing near New Germany, departed this life April 12, 1898. She had been an earnest, faithful member and worker in the M. E. Church for many years. She was familiarly known as "Aunt Harriet" and was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. She often remarked to her family she was ready to die. Grantsville, Md., March 16 - Sarah M. Miller, a native of New Germany and a pioneer resident of Garrett county, died early today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry F. Durst, this place, after a lingering illness. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 2:30 p. m. from the Methodist Episcopal Church, New Germany, of which she was a lifelong member. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Crowe. Surviving are three sons, Howard M. Crowe, McHenry, Md.; George G. Crowe, LaVale, Md., and Harry O. Crowe, Grantsville, and six daughters, Mrs. Charles A. Baum, Berlin, Pa.; Mrs. J. L. Fresh, Frostburg; Mrs. Richard Layman, Avilton; Mrs. Cora Davies, Akron, O.; Mrs. Allen Leidinger, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Durst. She was a sister of Robert and Stewart Crowe, Avilton, and Webster Crowe, New Germany. She leaves also 37 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Miller, who died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Durst, this place, will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. from the Methodist Episcopal Church, New Germany. Grantsville, Oct. 12 - Services were held this afternoon in New Germany Methodist church for Henry Stewart Crowe, 85, who died Tuesday evening at his home in Avilton after a long illness. The Rev. Charles Sisk officiated. Mr. Crowe was the last member of a family of nine children of Henry and Hariette (Durst) Crowe, early settlers in New Germany. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Mary Wilhelm and Mrs. Pearl Wilhelm, Avilton; and Mrs. Hazel Garlitz, Cumberland; and four sons, Harvey, who just returned from Germany; Samuel, Lee and Edgar, at home. Funeral services for Daniel Webster Crowe were conducted from the New Germany Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 28. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery under the direction of William Winterberg, local mortician. Mr. Crowe died at his home at New Germany about 7 o'clock Saturday evening, Jan. 25, after an illness of about ten days. He was one of the substantial citizens of the community and was well known throughout this section. His entire life was spent in the New Germany community where he was born. Assisted by his son, Stanley Crowe, he successfully operated a large farm near here. Surviving besides his wife, Ada Crowe, and their son, are two brothers, Robert Crowe and Stewart Crowe, and three grandchildren, all of New Germany. Crowe, retired farmer, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Michael, Avilton, where he had been ill for the past six weeks. Mr. Crowe was the son of the late Henry and Harriet Durst Crowe and a native of Garrett county. Surviving besides Mrs. Michael, are another daughter, Mrs. Charles Durst, of Long Stretch, and a brother, George Crowe, Avilton. Baum, who died in December 1949. She was known as a devoted mother and consistent member of the Methodist church. The following children survive: Mrs. C.W. McDonald, Newport News, Va.; Mrs. John R. She was the daughter of the late George W. and Sara Margaret Miller and was born near Grantsville, Md., Dec. 24, 1879. Since the death of her husband, Joseph Leidinger three years ago, she had made her home with Mrs. Durst. Surviving are Mrs. Dessie Layman, Frostburg; Mrs. Charles (Lillie) Baum, Berlin, Pa.; Mrs. L. J. (Laura) Fresh and Howard Miller, Akron, Ohio; George G. Miller, LaVale, Md., and Mrs. H. O. Miller, Grantsville. Grantsville, Md., September 12 - Mrs. Cora Davies, 58, died Wednesday at St. John's Hospital, Akron, Ohio, where she had been a patient since August 3. She was born at New Germany, a daughter of the late George and Sarah (Crowe) Miller. She had lived in this community till about twenty years ago when she moved to Akron. She was twice married, first to William O. "Dick" Patton, to which union two daughters were born. They are Mrs. Violet Coughenour and Mrs. Joseph Kelley, both of Akron. Later she married John Davies of Akron, and one daughter, Wilma Ann Davies, survives this union. She was a sister of Mrs. Henry F. Durst, and Mrs. Richard Layman, Grantsville; Mrs. Charles Baum, Berlin, Pa.; Mrs. Alice Lydinger, Akron; Howard Miller, Hoyes, Md.; George G. Miller, LaVale; and Harry O. Miller, Grantsville. Mrs. Durst was a member of Grantsville Unnited Methodist Church and the WSCS. Surviving are two sons, Sylvan Durst, Indio, Calif., and Wayne Durst, of here; two brothers, Harry Q. Durst (sic: Miller), of here, and George G. Durst (sic: Miller), Keyser; a sister, Mrs. Dessie Layman, of here; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p. m. at Grantsville United Methodist Church by Rev. He is survived by two brothers, Edgar and Lee Crowe, both of Avilton, and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Garlitz and Mrs. Mary Wilhelm, also of Avilton. Mr. Crowe was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War II. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home in Grantsville today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev.
