FROSTBURG — Howard A. (Ski) Plummer, 62, of 130 Walnut Street, Grahamtown, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Frostburg; he was the son of Mary Edna (DeVore) Plummer, Grahamtown, and the late Emory G. Plummer. He was formerly a projectionist at the Palace Theatre and for 20 years owned and operated Frostburg TV Sales and Service. A member of Zion United Church of Christ and the Consistory of the church, he was also a member of Farrady Post 24, American Legion. He was a veteran of World War Il, serving 33 months in the Pacific Theatre after being commissioned at Fort Monmouth, N.J. Besides his mother, he also is survived by his widow, Virginia (Blank) Plummer; one son, Robert Howard Plummer, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Buckalew and Mrs. Amy Diaz, both of Frostburg; Mrs. Anna Mary Moody, McKeesporl, Pa.; two brothers, Alden Plummer, Cumberland, and Wayne Plummer, Frostburg. Friends will be received at the Hafer-Sowers Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. E. Lawrence Miller officiating. FROSTBURG — Mrs. Eleanor P. Smith, 48, died yesterday at Cleveland (Ohio) Clinic where she was a patient one month. She had been in ill health for four years. Born in Frostburg, she was a daughter of Mrs. Edna (DeVore) Plummer, here, and the late Emory Plummer, and the widow of James 0. Smith who died last January 7. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are five sons, James, Charles, Henry and Martin Smith, all of Cleveland, and Donald Smith with the State Police at Hagerstown; a daughter Mrs. Edward Rodgers, Detroit; three sisters, Mrs. George Buckalew, Mrs. Manuel Diaz, Frostburg, and Mrs. John Moody, McKeesport; three brothers, Howard and Wayne Plummer, Frostburg, Alden Plummer, Cumberland, and nine grandchildren. Karen Sue Buckalew Walls died on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at her residence in Frederick. Sue is an organ and tissue donor, and her body will be used for education and research. Sue was preceded in death by her father, George (Buck) Buckalew; her mother, Virginia (Ginny) Plummer Buckalew and her brother, Doug Buckalew. She is survived by her son, Matthew Scott Walls, who resides in Elon, N.C.; and her granddaughter, Madison Walls and her grandson, Carson Walls, who also reside in Elon; and a step-son, Mark Walls, who resides in Frostburg. Step grandchildren Katherine and Justin Walls. Sue graduated with a BA in Art from Hood College. In 1974, she was voted an Outstanding Young Woman in America for her civic and community contributions. In 1982, Sue won an award for a song lyric in the American Song Writers festival. Sue was employed in the fields of retail and education. There will be no memorial service. Sue would request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to any charitable organizations devoted to the prevention of child or animal abuse. Published in Cumberland Times News, August 22, 2016
