FROSTBURG — Thomas Kerr, 84, of 80 Mt. Pleasant Street, died yesterday at his home following an illness of nine months. Born at Lonaconing, he was a son of the late Thomas and Jean (Muir) Kerr. Mr. Kerr was a retired miner and was a member of the Frostburg Republican Club and a charter member of the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Company. His wife, Effie (Adkins) Kerr, preceded him in death. Surviving are four sons, Charles, William and John Kerr, all of Frostburg, and Glenn Kerr, Cumberland; a daughter, Mrs. Viola Alexander, Lonaconing; three brothers, William and James Kerr, Frostburg, and Alex Kerr, Homestead, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Jean Menderson, Phoenix, Ariz., 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Durst Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Services will be conducted there Friday at 4 p. m. by Rev. Kenneth E. Morelock and burial will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. William KERR and Alice DRUMMOND were married on 20 Mar 1943 in Brigham City, Box Elder Co., Utah. MARK ANNIVERSARY - Mr. and Mrs. William Kerr 153 Bowery Street, Frostburg, were honored with a surprise party on their 25th wedding anniversary at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Huffman, 124 East Main street. Mrs. Kerr is the .former Miss Alice Drummond, daughter of the late James and Dora (Dickey) Drummond, Borden Mines. Her husband is the son of the late Thomas Kerr and Effie (Adkins) Kerr, Mt. Pleasant Street. They were married March 20, 1943 in Brigham City, Utah, in the Presbyterian Church there. The Kerrs have a foster son, James, at home. Mrs. Kerr has a son, Staff Sgt. Leland Folk, who is serving with the armed forces in Vietnam. Sgt. Folk's wife and four children are presently residing with the Kerrs. A 46-year-old Frostburg carpenter was killed yesterday morning when a concrete abutment on the Vocke Road bridge fell on him. Three olher workmen narrowly escaped being pinned under the abutment. Dead is Walter T. Kerr of 422 Park Street, Frostburg, who was employed as a carpenter for the Hout Construction Company. He and three other men were workng on wooden forms for a new concrete abutment which was to be laid against the old section when the latter suddenly fell over. The victim was unable to avoid the falling slab, and was pinned from his midsection down. The slab was 15 feet long, four feet high and about a foot and a half to two feet thick. . . . A native of Frostburg, Mr. Kerr is a son of Thomas Kerr of Frostburg and the late Mrs. Effie (Adkins) Kerr. He is survived by his father, his wife, Mrs. Dorothy (Race) Kerr, and two daughters, Brenda and Tamra, both at home. FROSTBURG John Earl Kerr, 78, of 80 Mount Pleasant St., Frostburg, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born Feb. 2, 1922, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Thomas and Effie (Adkins) Kerr. He also was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Kerr was a retired supervisor for the State of Maryland Department of Juvenile Services' Green Ridge Youth Center, and he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Frostburg, and was an avid grower of roses. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Hazel (Wingert) Kerr; three sons, Jon Thomas Kerr and wife Jacqueline, Frostburg, Glen Joseph Kerr and wife Penny, San Jose, Calif., and Richard Douglas Kerr and wife Jill, Frostburg; four grandchildren, Scott, Brandon, Aaron and Samuel Kerr; one step-grandson, David Troutman; two great-grandchildren, J.R. and Kaitlin Kerr; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Tamorria officiating. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.

Charles Elwood "Chill" Kerr, 73, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully in the presence of his sons, on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Lyons Manor Nursing Home. Born March 13, 1929, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Charles Jordy Kerr and Martha (Phillips) Kerr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dot Wright; and one brother, Oakie Kerr. Mr. Kerr was retired from the Kaiser Refractories and the Lyons Manor Nursing Home. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Frostburg and the Cresaptown Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2883, the National Rifle Association, and the Piney Mountain Sportsmen Club. Mr. Kerr was a lifelong outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, shooting, and fishing. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Festerman) Kerr, Cumberland; four sons, Chuck Kerr and wife Julie, Thurmont, Craig Kerr and wife Kathy, Merritt Island, Fla., Jim Kerr, Crown Point, Ind., and Jeff Kerr and wife Robin, Cumberland; six grandchildren, Dana Kerr, Mark Kerr, Carla Houck, Hillary Kerr, Matt Hagerman, and Greg Kerr; and four great-grandchildren, Megan and Amber Kerr and Layne and Keagan Houck. Born Oct. 21, 1931, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Martha (Phillips) Kerr. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Doris Ann Wright. Mr. Kerr was a retired orderly from the Cumberland Nursing Home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Frostburg. Surviving are one brother, Charles "Chill" Kerr and wife, Dorothy, Cumberland; one sister, Elner Powers and husband, James, Boise, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Diane Smith officiating. Born in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Charles and Martha (Phillips) Kerr, Frostburg. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and the Women's Guild of the church. Surviving, besides her parents and husband, are three daughters, Dawn, Debbie and Doris Ann Wright, all at home; one son, Robert Wright, Jr., at home; two brothers, Charles Kerr and J. CUMBERLAND - Victoria Susan Kerr, 35, of Cumberland, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999 at home. Born in Cumberland on February 27, 1964, she was the daughter of Dorothy L. (Dawson) Kerr, of Cumberland and the late Glenn D. Kerr. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Catherine Ann and Brittaney Nicole Kerr. Mrs. Kerr was a Certified Care Giver for the former New Life Shelter of Cumberland. She was a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church, and she was a member of the White Oaks Women's Bowling League. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brother, Stephen E. Kerr and wife Sarah of Cumberland; nephew, William Kerr and a niece, Sarah Kerr. She also is survived by her fiancee, Bill Northcraft of Cumberland. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted there on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Lloyd B.
