Ralph O. "Red" Nelson, 90, Eckhart, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born June 12, 1911, in Eckhart, he was a son of the late John and Rosa (Crowe) Nelson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Leona Mabel (Loar) Nelson in 1998; one son, Robert O. Nelson; and 14 brothers and sisters. He retired from the Celanese Fibers Corporation after 45 years of service in the spinning department, and was a member of the Eckhart United Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Lois Filsinger, Clarysville, Rosalie Warnick, Frostburg, and Nancy Pugh, Fulton; two sons, Ralph G. Nelson, Frostburg, and John Nelson, Oakland, one sister, Stella Krauss, Frostburg; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, where a service was conducted Tuesday, July 24, with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. Interment was in the Eckhart Cemetery.
