BOWERS, Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Winebrenner

MOUNT SAVAGE - Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Bowers, 82, of Foundry Row, died Tuesday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born here, she was a daughter of the late William M. Winebrenner and Susan (Hutzell) Winebrenner. Her husband, Graham S. Bowers, died in 1970. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Mount Savage United Methodist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Betty Walsh, here; one son, William M. Bowers, Frostburg; four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Rice, Mrs. Susana Trimble and Mrs. Elenora Winebrenner, all of Mount Savage; Mrs. Viola Deal, Hope Road, Frostburg; two brothers, Ralph Winebrenner, Mount Savage; Clinton Winebrenner, Hyndman, Pa.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Gloria Eisel, Frostburg; Ms. Lou Ann Hitchins, Cresaptown. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m., in the funeral home by the Rev. George M. Harpold. Interment will be in the Mt. Savage Methodist Church Cemetery.

FROSTBURG — William M. Bowers, 82, of Frostburg, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at WMHS-Braddock Campus. Born on June 12, 1927 he was preceded in death by his parents, Graham S. Bowers and Sarah (Winebrenner) Bowers; and one sister, Elizabeth A. Walsh. William was a retired Re-search Technician with Allegany Ballistics Laboratory. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II having served in China. He was member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church, Farrady Post 24 American Legion and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. He was a life member of the VFW Post 6025, Mt. Savage, Marine Corp Association, China Marine Association, Marine Corp League and Mountainside Marine Detachment 1071. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Dolores (Howsare) Bowers; one daughter, Gloria Eisel and husband Stanley, Frostburg; one granddaughter, Sarah Eisel, Frostburg; one sister-in-law, Gail Leake and husband Bernard, Frostburg; one nephew, Greg Leake and wife Beth, Cumberland; two nieces, Lou Ann Shaffer and husband Bill, Mt. Savage and Wendy Stewart, Ridgeley; and one great-niece, Sidnee Stewart. Private funeral services were held at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Rebecca Vardiman officiating. Interment was in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Military honors were accorded by members of Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard at graveside. MOUNT SAVAGE -- Elizabeth Arvada Bowers Walsh, 71, of Walsh Road, Mount Savage, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at her residence. Born Oct. 31, 1929, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Graham Samuel and Sarah Elizabeth (Winebrenner) Bowers. Mrs. Walsh was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church. Mrs. Walsh is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard James "Dick" Walsh; one daughter, Lou Ann Shaffer and husband John "Bill", Mount Savage; one brother, William Mack Bowers and wife Dolores, Frostburg; a special friend, Marilyn Evans and husband Sam, Midlothian; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Harpold and Sister Joan Minella, S.S.N.D., officiating. Interment will be in the Saint Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Mount Savage.
