Mrs. Thomas E. McKenzie – Mrs. Lena Catherine McKenzie, 67, Cresaptown, died today in Sacred Heart Hospital. She had been in failing health for several years. Born at Harrisonburg, Va., she was a daughter of the late Orville and Catherine (Fisher) Dawson. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband, Thomas E. McKenzie; six sons, Edward W. McKenzie Sr., Cumberland; Thomas L. McKenzie, Cresaptown; Ronald E. McKenzie, Cumberland; Kenneth L. McKenzie, Winchester Road and Joseph M. McKenzie and Donald W. McKenzie, both of Keyser; two daughters, Mrs. Mary L. Lechliter, city, and Mrs. Carlon (actual spelling in obit) A. McDowell of Potomac Park; one sister, Mrs. Anna Mellott of Merritt Island, Fla.; three brothers, Raymond Dawson of Wiley Ford, Alva Dawson of Baltimore and Virgil Dawson of Odessa, Texas; 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. CUMBERLAND — Edward W. McKenzie Sr., 75, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at his son's residence. Born July 3, 1933 in Cresaptown, he was the son of the late Thomas McKenzie and Lena Catherine (Dawson) McKenzie. He was also predeceased by his wife, Lois Jean (Lark) McKenzie in 1992; and one brother, Ronald McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He attended St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He is survived by two sons, Edward W. McKenzie Jr. and wife Linda of Keyser, W.Va. and Donald E. McKenzie and wife Julie of Cumberland; one daughter, Ellen J. Boyd of Cumberland, four brothers, Thomas McKenzie, Kenneth McKenzie, Donald McKenzie and Mike McKenzie; two sisters, Mary Lechliter of Keyser and Kitten McDowell and husband Timothy of Pinto; grandchildren, Misty Jenkins husband Steven of Ridgeley, Christy McKenzie and fiancée' Joseph Wood of Ridgeley, Stephanie Boyd and fiancée David Wilds of Cumberland, Nathan William McKenzie of Keyser, Mark Fairbanks of Cumberland and Timothy Fairbanks of Magazine, Ark.; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, "Sparky" his dog. Thomas LeRoy McKenzie, 82, of Rawlings, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017. Born on Dec. 27, 1934, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Lena McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jo McKenzie, who passed in Dec. 2016. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Edward McKenzie. Thomas was a United States Army Veteran, and retired from Hercules/ABL Rocket Factory. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, working on his own cars, and woodworking and wood crafting. Mr. McKenzie enjoyed playing practical jokes on people, especially his wife and his brothers-in-law. Above all, he was a hard-working man who loved being with his family. Surviving are his daughters, Lena K. Leasure and husband Randall of Carpendale, W.Va., Carol Ann McKenzie of Martinsburg, W.Va., Toni Marie Fabbri and husband Joe of LaVale; seven grandchildren, Betty Ann Webb, Scott Pratt, Chris Fabbri, Mandy Deter-Fabbri and husband Scott, Todd Leasure, Cassie Fabbri, and Crystal Menefee; nine great-grandchildren, Alexis Jedlowski, Madison Pratt, Kolten Deter, Kayden Pressman, Bailee Pressman, Anthony Pratt, Karley Fabbri, Emily Huff, Gracelyn Helmstetter, and Ryder Menefee. KEYSER, W.Va. — Mary (McKenzie) Lechliter, 84, of Keyser, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at Stonerise Keyser. Born Oct. 17, 1936, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Lena Catherine (Dawson) McKenzie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Paul Lechliter; brothers, Kenneth McKenzie, Edward McKenzie, Thomas McKenzie, Ronald McKenzie; sisters-in-law, Lois McKenzie, Betty McKenzie, Catherine 'Kitty' McKenzie; daughter-in -law, Lillian Yvonne Lechliter. Mrs. Lechliter was Catholic by faith. Her passions in life were gardening and spending time with her family. Mrs. Lechliter was always there to lend an ear to friends and family. She loved to make people laugh with her fantastic sense of humor. She also enjoyed playing cards and the board game Trouble. LAVALE — Kenneth L. McKenzie, 79, of LaVale, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at home, surrounded by his family. Born, in Cresaptown, on July 10, 1940, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lena (Dawson) McKenzie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie McKenzie and wife, Lois, Thomas McKenzie and wife, Betty, and Ronnie McKenzie and wife, Catherine; brother-in-law, Joe Lechliter; and sisters-in-law, Cornelia 'Toni'Dolan and Sarah Cesnick. Ken attended school in Cresaptown and he was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. He was employed at Keyser Stainless for most of his working career. Ken owned rental property. He enjoyed working on these properties, and it became more of hobby than work. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting. Ken is survived by his wife, Agnes L. (Cesnick) McKenzie, whom he married on July 28, 1962; children, Catherine Walker and husband, Douglas, and John E. McKenzie and wife, Ruth; grandchildren, Jessica Walker, Laura Martel and husband, Michael, Emily McKenzie and Jake McKenzie; great-granddaughter, Amelia Martel; brothers, Donald McKenzie and wife, Maxine, and Joseph 'Mike'McKenzie and wife, Sharon; sisters, Mary Lechliter and Carlon 'Kitten'Mc-Dowell and husband, Tim; brothers-in-law, Eugene Cesnick and Tom Cesnick and wife, Bonnie; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
