1. | Michael Vance was born about 1923 in Artemas, Bedford County, Pennsylvania; died on 28 Mar 1972 in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland. Notes:
Fatal Blast Probe Begins at Amcelle – (I have skipped the first half of the article where the blast at the plant is discussed). Michael Vance, 49, Star Route, Artemas, Pa., a longtime employee at the plant was dead on arrival at Sacred Heart Hospital. Mr. Vance was a native of Artemas, and was a son Warren and Julia (Long) Vance, Artemas. He was a veteran of WWII. Also surviving are his widow, Josephine (McKenzie) Vance; two sons, Michael W. and Patrick A. Vance, both at home; two brothers, Ray Vance, Artemas, and Guy Vance, West Hyattsville, and a sister, Miss Mabel Vance, Artemas. Services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Fairview Christian Church, Inglesmith, Pa. by Rev. Charles Perrin and Rev. ray Mallow. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Artemas American Legion members will conduct military rites at the gravesite. Cumberland Evening Times Tuesday, March 28, 1972
