He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Chadwick (Nicols) Engle; a son, John Wesley Engle, Irwin, Pa.; three brothers, William, Vincent and Wheeler Engle, all of Eckhart; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Lancaster, LaVale; Mrs. Percy Skidmore, Eckhart, and Mrs. Russell Seifarth, Hoffman. He was a retired farmer and held membership in Eckhart Methodist Church. The body is at the residence, where services will be held Tuesday at 4 p. m. with Rev. W. T. Mrs. Leila Estella (Engle) Lancaster, 81, of 356 McHenry Street, LaVale, died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. Her husband, Elmer C. Lancaster, died in 1961. She is a native of Eckhart, the daughter of the late Vincent and Hattie (porter) Engle. Mrs. Lancaster is survived by two sons, Harold M. Lancaster, Frostburg, and Roger M. Lancaster, LaVale; two brothers, William and Vincent Engle, Eckhart; two sisters, Mrs. Percy Skidmore, Eckhart, and Mrs. Russell Seifarth, Hoffman; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church and its Friendship Bible Class. Mrs. Lancaster was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the LaVale Colunteer Fire Department. Friends will be received at the John J. Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary from 2 to 4 p.m and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there tomorrow by Rev. Wheeler F. Engle, 59, of Eckhart, died of a heart attack yesterday morning while driving a milk truck through Wrights Crossing. He was en route from Eckhart to the Dashiell Dairy, Midland, with a load of milk when he suffered the attack. His truck went out of control and crashed through a fence on the property of William Keeling before coming to a stop. A life-long resident of Eckhart and a member of Eckhart Methodist Church, he was a son the late Vincent and Hattie (Porter) Engle. He is survived by two brothers, William and Vincent Engle, both of Eckhart: three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Lancaster, LaVale; Mrs. Russell Seifarth, Hoffman, and Mrs. Percy Skidmore, Eckhart. The body is at the Rose Meadow Farm, near Eckhart. Services will be conducted at the residence on Tuesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. William T. Beckett and Rev. Joseph Byers. Interment will be in the Porter Cemetery at Eckhart.

Born on Sept. 14,1904 in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Hattie (Porter) Engle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Rucker" Seifarth in 1981. Mrs. Seifarth was a homemaker and a member of the Eckhart United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Thelma Kirkhoff, Westlawn, Pa.; Janis Llewelyn, Frostburg, with whom she resided; one son, John Vincent Seifarth, Maugansville; one sister, Mary Katherine Skidmore, Eckhart; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. ECKHART — John W. “Jack” “Red” Engle Jr., 81, of Eckhart, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2010, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 9, 1928, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late John Wesley Engle Sr. and Chadwick Elizabeth (Nichols) Engle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia (McMillen) Engle, and one sister, Cora Engle. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Engle was a retired Regional Superintendent for the Northeast Region of McKinney Drilling Co. in Delmont, Pa., where he worked for forty-seven years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Drill Sergeant with the 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers during the Korean Conflict. John was a member of the Eckhart United Methodist Church and also the West Hempfield Presbyterian Church, USA, in Irwin, Pa., the Moose Lodge 348, of Frostburg, the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and was a 32nd degree Mason of Pittsburgh, Pa. Surviving are two sons, John W. Engle III and wife Terri, of Clemmons, N.C. and Kevin Engle and wife Judy, of Linden, Va.; two grandsons, John Wesley Engle IV and wife Maya, of Charlotte, N.C. and Zachary Robert Engle and fiancee Meghan Dawson, of Memphis, Tenn., and numerous cousins. William P. “Bill” Engle, 89, of Rosemeadow Farm, Eckhart, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Hospice Unit at Martinsburg, WV. Born October 21, 1924, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late William and Emma Engle. He is preceded in death by his infant granddaughter Ann Elizabeth Winters. Bill was a loyal member of the Eckhart United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer and Sunday School Teacher. He was a Christian of strong moral character. He was known for this paintings of rural farm scapes and his experience as a WWII Veteran in the Philippines. He also owned his own poultry business which provided high quality brown eggs. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Coralee “Drew” Engle; daughter, Lori Winters and husband Herman of Midlothian; son, Paul Engle and wife Edna of Hagerstown; four beloved grandchildren, Nathan and Andrew Winters, David and Kelsey Engle; sister, Eleanor Emerick and husband Rev. Eleanor Rose Emerick, 90, of Boonsboro entered her eternal home on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at Fahrney Keedy Village where she resided for more than 30 years. Born Feb. 1, 1928, at the Rose Meadow Farm in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma Nelson Engle. In 1947, she married the Rev. Louis L. Emerick and shared 72 years of marriage and 56 years together in the ministry. Eleanor was a humble and patient Christian. She sang in church choirs and was a district officer in United Methodist Women's Society. It was her desire to give a gift from her kitchen to each shut-in church member at Christmas and Easter. She loved to sew and made costumes for special occasions. Some of her bicentennial garments were donated to Fort Frederick Historical Society. She was a member of several church quilting groups. Her final personal quilting project was the "Heart of Rose" quilt. She also served as the leader of the surplus food distribution for North Arundel County. Eleanor was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, Louis, she is survived by nieces, Lori Winters, Rochel Emerick, Pat Wright, Edna Engle, Trudy Emerick, Brenda Leibundgut, Cindy Brooks, Sharon Butler; nephews, Paul Engle, the Rev. Craig Emerick, the Rev. Steve Emerick, John Emerick, Herman Winters, James Leibundgut, the Rev. Mark Brooks, William Butler; sister-in-law, Coralee Engle; and a dear cousin, Hattie Jean Engle Brode. A viewing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Roger was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church, was a World War II Veteran serving with the US Army, was a painter by trade and a member of the Painters Local #947, was a member of LaVale Volunteer Fire Department for 61 years, the Cumberland Elks, Cumberland Moose and the Cumberland Eagles.
