Sarah V. Yost - Sarah V. Yost, 76, Oakland, died Tuesday in the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland. Born in Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late Allen B. and May McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Yost, Sr., who died in 1973. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. V. June Holkamp, Lewisville, Ky.; four sons, Harry L. Yost, Jr., Oakland, J. Allen Yost, Westminster, William L. Yost, Virginia Beach, Va.; and Maylon W. Yost, Oakland; one brother Sheridan McKenzie, Westernport; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Rev Stephen Wilson and Rev. OAKLAND — Harry Lee Yost Jr., 87, of Oakland, and most recently Cherry Hill Assisted Living in Accident, died on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland. Born on Jan. 23, 1925, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Harry Lee Sr. and Sarah (McKenzie) Yost. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mahlon W. Yost and John Allen Yost; and a grandson, Mark A. Cannon. At the age of 18, he was drafted into military service in Washington, D.C. He served in the US Army during the South Pacific Theater during World War II. After discharge from the Army, he was employed by the C&P Telephone Company from which he retired as central office foreman having given 43 years of service. Harry was a member of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 in Oakland, Elks Lodge 2481, of Oakland and Telephone Pioneers of America. He is survived by his lovely wife, Leatrice Mildred (Lee) Yost; three sons, Keith A. Cannon and wife Harriet, of Oakland, Jerry L. Cannon and wife Louise, of Grand Haven, Mich. and Harold "Moose" Cannon Jr. and wife Peggy, of Oakland; grandchildren who he truly loved, Jason Cannon, Bryan Cannon, Beth Ann Sivills, Shelli Hill and Kerri Everd; great-grandchildren, Justin, Novalea, Jacob, Samantha, Mason, Taylor and Anthony; a brother, William "Billy" L. Yost, of Virginia Beach, Va. and a sister, June V. Holkamp, of Louisville, Ky. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd St., Oakland, on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, Nov. 30, from 10 to 11 a.m. at which time a funeral service will be conducted with the Rev. Paul Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Garrett County Memorial Gardens with full military honors accorded.
