Frances Henry Koontz

Francis Harry Koontz, 70, of 513 B Street, LaVale, died Saturday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born in Cumberland on April 28, 1915, he was a retired PBX worker for the C&P Telephone Company. He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 63; Henry Hart Post 1411, Veterans of Foreign Wars; the Telephone Pioneers; SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was a graduate of Pennsylvania Avenue High School, class of 1933. Surviving are his widow, Catherine Helen (McKenzie) Koontz, and one daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Plummer, LaVale. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. The rosary will be recited Monday at 8 p.m. and the Elks Lodge will conduct a memorial service Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Scarpelli Funeral Home. Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Robert Lashley, Michael Gorsuch, Joseph McKenzie, Carl Growden, Robert Knisley and Robert Miltenberger, actives; Milnor McKenzie, Charles Couter, Bruce Gates, William Himmler, George Evans and Paul Goldsworthy, honoraries.
