Born April, 29, 1950, at Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Clifford George & Verna Mary (McKenzie) Caton.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Clifford "Junie" Caton, James "Jum" Caton, Virgil "Buzz" Caton, Thomas "Tommy" Caton and one sister, Sylvia "Sylvie" Hunter. Mrs. Schartiger was a restaurant manager at Grantsville Holiday Inn and also worked at Rocky Gap. She was part owner of GB Liquors and M&M Loggers. Surviving is her husband, Larry D. Schartiger; four sons, Gilbert Donald (Barbara) Wilhelm Jr., Dwight David (Erin) Wilhelm Sr., Bryan Dean (Diane) Wilhelm, Howard Trilson (Rebecca) Wilhelm; two daughters, Delana Jane (Vance Kaloz) Wilhelm, Twila Mae (Brett) Shelley; one step-son, Randy (Karen) Schartiger; two step-daughters, Sherry (Chuck Miller) Schartiger, Connie (Mike) Jones; three sisters, Evelyn "Duddy" Short, Emma Thorn, Nancy "Curly" Wilhelm; 14 grandchildren, Gilbert (Beth) Wilhelm III, Jacy (Jason) Humberson, Kara Achouri, Dwight David Wilhel Jr., Dawson Wilhelm, Delilah Wilhelm, Gracy Mae Wilhelm, Bryan Edward Wilhelm, Howard Wilhelm, Brittany Golden, Carly Shaw, Johnny Golden, Reed Clifford Shelley, Lana Jane Shelley; three great-grandchildren, Kinlynn, Lyla and Owen. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller Street, Grantsville, on Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 1-4 pm. Services will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Per her wishes, cremation will follow.
