Blanche MCKENZIE (James Noah-4, Jacob Patrick-3, Samuel J.-2, John M.-1) was born about 1916 in Finzel, Garrett Co., Maryland. She died on 17 Sep 1976 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. FROSTBURG — Mrs. Blanche Shockey, 60, of Finzel, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, where she had been admitted August 29. She had been in failing health the past two months. Born in Finzel, she was a daughter of the late James and Oma (Caton) McKenzie. Mrs. Finzel was employed as head cook for the Senior Citizens Hot Meals program. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Route 40, the United Methodist Women and East Garrett County Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Leonard Shockey; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Snyder, RD 2, Frostburg; Mrs. Nancy Barmoy, RD 3, Meyersdale, and Miss Faye Shockey, at home; a son, Gerald Shockey, RD 2; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Raley, Baltimore; Mrs. Helen Weimer, Mrs. Mary Hartman, Cumberland; three brothers, James Cobey McKenzie, William McKenzie, RD 2, and Jack McKenzie, Baltimore, and five grandchildren. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home, where friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9. The Cumberland News, September 18, 1976.
