Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Johnsen, and husband, Richard, with whom she resided, Annandale, Va.; a son, John B. Hinds, and wife, Maryann, Alexandria, Va.; one grandson, Erik Johnsen, and wife, Diane, Arlington, Va.; and one granddaughter, Ashley Hinds, Alexandria.

Frostburg, Md., April 15 - Private Leonard Leroy McKenzie, 22, who formerly lived on the Vale Summit road near Clarysville, has been drowned somewhere overseas, according to a telegram from the War Department to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard McKenzie, Baltimore. Pvt. McKenzie, who was attached to the army refrigeration unit, stated in his last message that he was stationed in England. Before moving to Baltimore with his family to engage in defense work two years ago, Pvt. McKenzie was a truck driver here. He was a member of Frostburg Lodge No. 348, Loyal Order of Moose. Besides his parents, he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Francis, Amcelle; Mrs. Genevieve Lapp, Harry McKenzie and Mrs. Mary Atkinson, all of Frostburg; and Edna, Eugene, Irvin, Alice, Mildred and Helen, all of Baltimore, and Anna Mae McKenzie. Born at Montell, Md., on Aug. 22, 1929, he was a son of the late Leonard Clarence McKenzie and Edna Elizabeth (Smith) McKenzie. Also preceding him in death were three brothers and three sisters. He was a member of Lonaconing Methodist Church, Lonaconing, Md. He was a retired tractor trailer driver after 25 years. Mr. McKenzie was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Twila J. (Hoover) McKenzie, Buffalo Mills; one son, Mike McKenzie, Glen Burnie, Md.; one daughter, Patricia Ann Valentine, Sunnyside, Md.; sisters Alice Albright and husband, Carl, Frostburg, Md., Anna Mae Brode, Somerset; Mary McKenzie, Cresaptown, Md.; Mildred Middleton, Clinton Township, Mich.; one brother, Eugene McKenzie and wife, Rose, Millersville, Md.; four grandchildren; and 34 nieces and nephews. FROSTBURG — Roger Michael McKenzie, 61, Frostburg, succumbed to his recent illness at his home surrounded by his family and many friends, Monday, March 5, 2012. Born March 20, 1950, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Thomas and Nellie (Garlitz) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Patrick, Ralph, Joseph and Lafe McKenzie; two brothers-in-law, James Iser and James Fadeley. Roger was a self-employed as half owner and business partner in McKenzie Brothers Farming, Logging and Lumber, with his brother Olin for 44 years. He was a lifelong beef cattle farmer whose beef has been sold at Wayne’s Meats in Keyser, W.Va. and Fort Ashby, W.Va., for many years. His heart was always in farming and he cherished his many friends and large family. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg and Garrett County Farm Bureau. Roger was known for being a person that would do anything for anyone who asked. He will be greatly missed by so many. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Lee (Lancaster) McKenzie, whom he married on Feb. 7, 1970; a son, Darren McKenzie, Frostburg; a daughter, Christine McKenzie and husband, Bill Swauger, Frostburg; daughter-in-law, Elly McKenzie, Frostburg; three brothers, David McKenzie and wife, Doris, Regis McKenzie and wife, Bonnie and Olin McKenzie and wife, Judy, all of Frostburg; four sisters, Thelma Iser, McCoole, Martha Fadeley, LaVale, Helen Resh and husband, Blaine “Pete”, Grantsville, Ora Keister and husband, Rae, Frostburg; one granddaughter, Kayla McKenzie; two sisters-in-law, Carlene McKenzie, Zihlman, and Geneva McKenzie, Frostburg; and many nieces, nephews, friends and business acquaintances. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany and Marshall Island. Larry STOTT was born about 1941. He died on 13 Dec 1948 in Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. Seven-year-old Larry Stott, Frostburg, died this morning at 11:30 to Miners' Hospital, Frostburg, from injuries suffered when he was struck by a car near his home late yesterday afternoon. A second grade student at Hill Street School, the child was enroute home from an errand when hit by an auto driven by Lowry Newton Moser, 48, of 56 Green Street, Frostburg. The child was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Stott, 204 McCulloch Street. Hospital attendants said he suffered a fractured skull, concussion of the brain and fractured right leg. State Trooper George Coddington said Moser, a carpenter at the Celanese plant, reported he was enroute home from work at 4:30 and driving south on Grant Street when the boy ran in front of his machine. The boy was returning home from a Grant Street grocery store at the time of the accident. A passing motorist took him to the hospital. Trooper Coddington said a passenger in Moser's car, Robert Delaney, corroborated Moser's account of the mishap. Trooper Coddington indicated no charges will be preferred pending completion of the investigation. The child is survived by his parents; a brother, Homer Stott, and two sisters, Martha and Dolores Stott, all at home. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and was to have appeared in the Christmas operetta at Hill Street School tomorrow in a scene "The Living Christmas Tree." FROSTBURG,MARYLAND -- Donna Jean Shriver, 69, of Frostburg, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born May 29, 1942, in Frostburg, Donna was the daughter of the late Henry McKenzie and Margaret (Rizer) McKenzie. Mrs. Shriver was preceded in death by her parents and husband John "Bunny" W. Shriver.

Mrs. Shriver was Methodist by faith and retired from Frostburg Village Nursing Home as a cook in the Dietary Department. She loved to read, work on puzzle books, travel and enjoyed the water at the beach and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Shriver and significant other Russell Michaels, of Westernport; two sons, Mike Shriver, of Corcoran, Calif. and Dean Shriver and wife Karen, of Fairmont, W.Va; two special granddaughters, Savanna and Allison Shriver, of Fairmont, W.Va.; two sisters, Carolyn Shoemake and husband John, of Cresaptown and Deborah Negley and husband Ed, of Frostburg; one brother, James McKenzie, of Cumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to service.

Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

He took extreme pride in his home and meticulous lawn, spending countless hours trimming shrubs, spreading mulch, pruning trees, and planting flower beds and baskets. He received many compliments from his neighbors which really made him feel good. Early in his career, Gary and Susie Kamp offered Bobby a position as they started Fuel City. This was a job he greatly enjoyed since he was able to meet and talk to everyone he came in contact with. The Kamps were great friends to Bobby, so when the opportunity arose, he again worked for them at Chestnut Ridge Liquors, taking the early morning shift which allowed him time to manage and run his own business in the afternoon, B & P Lawn Care. Bobby scheduled his time wisely, enabling him to stop at Cindy's Tavern for a "cold one" and still make it home in time to cook dinner and pamper his wife when she returned home from work. Bobby had many friends whom he enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with, but he preferred to spend most of his time with his wife, working side by side around the house, taking mini vacations and gambling trips to area casinos, or just relaxing and watching the NASCAR races on Sunday afternoons. The family gives a huge thanks to cousin, Wanda Coughenour for her tireless efforts and support during this very brief but extremely difficult time. In accordance with Bobby's wishes, his body will be cremated with no public services at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Born May 10, 1962, in Meyersdale, Pa., she was the daughter of Blaine E. “Pete,” and Helen V. (McKenzie) Resh, Grantsville. She was employed as a service person for Flushing Shirt Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Lipscomb was a member of Saint Ann’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Northern High School Class of 1980, and loved doing ceramics and reading. She was devoted to her family. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Donnie Lipscomb; twin daughters, Morgan Ann and Megan Lee, at home; a brother, Wayne Resh, Grantsville; her father and mother-in-law, Harold and “Boots” Lipscomb, Grantsville; paternal grandmother-in-law, Blanche Lipscomb, French Creek, W.Va.; maternal grandmother-in-law, Isabel Messersmith, Cresaptown; and a nephew, Michael E. Resh. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Besides his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Ronald Keister Sr., John Keister, and Charles Keister, all of Frostburg; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth (Hamilton) Keister, Frostburg Village; his maternal grandfather, Thomas McKenzie, a patient at Lions Manor, Cumberland; one niece; and three nephews.
