    William P. “Bill” Engle, 89, of Rosemeadow Farm, Eckhart, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Hospice Unit at Martinsburg, WV. Born October 21, 1924, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late William and Emma Engle. He is preceded in death by his infant granddaughter Ann Elizabeth Winters. Bill was a loyal member of the Eckhart United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer and Sunday School Teacher. He was a Christian of strong moral character. He was known for this paintings of rural farm scapes and his experience as a WWII Veteran in the Philippines. He also owned his own poultry business which provided high quality brown eggs. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Coralee “Drew” Engle; daughter, Lori Winters and husband Herman of Midlothian; son, Paul Engle and wife Edna of Hagerstown; four beloved grandchildren, Nathan and Andrew Winters, David and Kelsey Engle; sister, Eleanor Emerick and husband Rev. Louis of Boonsboro. Military honors will be accorded by Farrady Post #24 American Legion Honor Guard.     Eleanor Rose Emerick, 90, of Boonsboro entered her eternal home on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at Fahrney Keedy Village where she resided for more than 30 years. Born Feb. 1, 1928, at the Rose Meadow Farm in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma Nelson Engle. In 1947, she married the Rev. Louis L. Emerick and shared 72 years of marriage and 56 years together in the ministry. Eleanor was a humble and patient Christian. She sang in church choirs and was a district officer in United Methodist Women's Society. It was her desire to give a gift from her kitchen to each shut-in church member at Christmas and Easter. She loved to sew and made costumes for special occasions. Some of her bicentennial garments were donated to Fort Frederick Historical Society. She was a member of several church quilting groups. Her final personal quilting project was the "Heart of Rose" quilt. She also served as the leader of the surplus food distribution for North Arundel County. Eleanor was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, Louis, she is survived by nieces, Lori Winters, Rochel Emerick, Pat Wright, Edna Engle, Trudy Emerick, Brenda Leibundgut, Cindy Brooks, Sharon Butler; nephews, Paul Engle, the Rev. Craig Emerick, the Rev. Steve Emerick, John Emerick, Herman Winters, James Leibundgut, the Rev. Mark Brooks, William Butler; sister-in-law, Coralee Engle; and a dear cousin, Hattie Jean Engle Brode. A viewing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Services will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave., Hagerstown. Graveside services will be held at approximately 2:30 p.m. at Eckhart Cemetery in Eckhart, Maryland. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Randall Reid and the Rev. Mark Brooks. The family thanks the staff of Fahrney Keedy Bowman's Center and Hospice of Washington County for their compassionate care provided to Eleanor.
