- CRESAPTOWN - Edward W. Whitaker, 71, of Cresaptown, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018, at the WMHS-Regional Medical Center. Born on Aug. 9, 1946, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Jerome W. and Kathleen E. (Hymes) Whitaker. Ed was a member of Friends Aware, and was one of their first clients. He enjoyed bowling, riding his bike, and Special Olympics. Surviving are his sister, Carol Johns; his brother, Bruce Whitaker and wife, Regina; his uncle, Russell Hymes; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. The family will receive friends at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown, on Sunday, June 3, 2018, from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, June 4, 2018, at 1 p.m. with Wayne Hedrick officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jack Johns, Joshua Johns, David Johns, Wesley Whitaker, Kurt Whitaker, and Craig Whitaker. Published in Cumberland Times-News on May 31, 2018
