- Mrs. Elsie Layman James, 43, wife of Floyd James, former residents, died early this morning at her home, 12822 Michell Street, Detroit. She had been in ill health tor the past month. She was a daughter of the late Robert and Rosy (Skidmore) Layman. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, James and Paul James, at home; two daughters, Sandra and Janet James, both at home; four sisters, Mrs. Venona Ware, Midlothian; Mrs. Hilda Soba, Detroit; Mrs. Mae Croston, Hoffman, and Mrs. Vivian Winehrenner, Shaft, and three brothers, James, Matthew and William Layman, all of Detroit. Services will be conducted Friday in Detroit. The Cumberland Evening Times, October 18, 1955
