  Notes	TOWSON — Mrs. Alice Smith, 67, died at her home here July 24 following an extended illness. Born at Shaft, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Layman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton R. Smith. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of the old State Normal School, Frostburg. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Betty S. Green, Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Anne S. Janes, Dallas, Tex.; a son, Milton R. Smith Jr., Timonium; a sister, Mrs. Mary L. Norris, Towson; a brother, Lt. Col. Ernest M. Layman (USA-Ret.) Laurel, and seven grandchildren. Services were held at Chestnut Grove Presbyterian Church Jacksonville, Md. The Cumberland Evening Times, August 1, 1973 Alice LAYMAN and Milton R. SMITH Sr. were married on 13 Oct 1928 in Hagerstown, Washington Co., Maryland.
