- FROSTBURG — Evan Layman, 69, of 172 Mt. Pleasant Street, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. A native of National, he was a son of the late Burham and Mary (Nelson) Layman. Two wives, Leona A. (Meagher) Layman, and Virginia (Griffith) Layman, preceded him in death. A retired filtration department employee at Celanese Fibers Company, he was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow Elizabeth (Plummer) Layman; a son, Larry V. Layman, Pocomoke City; a daughter, Mrs. Sally A. Vann, Waldorf; four stepsons, Marvin L., William D. James E. and Evan R. Layman, all of Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Laura Brode, Frostburg; a brother, Daniel Layman, Cumberland; five grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home, where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there tomorrow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clarence A. Kaylor officiating. Burial will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James Layman, Raymond Layman, Norman Snyder, Dean Kenney, Francis Cosgrove, and Floyd Catherman.
