- FROSTBURG - Lawrence Joseph "Gomas" Minnick, 74, of 12001 Sandbank Road N.W., Frostburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born Oct. 24, 1924, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late James (sic: Joseph) Bernard and Frances Loretta "Fannie" (McKenzie) Minnick. He also was preceded in death by one granddaughter; two brothers and six sisters. Mr. Minnick was retired from Picker International of Ohio where they manufactured and tested x-ray equipment. He also was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Minnick was Catholic by faith and a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg. Surviving are six daughters, Bonnita Cole, Frostburg, Loretta Minnick, Cumberland, Patricia Matthews, Wiley Ford, W.Va., Regina Kitzmiller, Midlothian, Marlene Broadwater, Mount Savage, and Elizabeth Enos, Eckhart; two sons, Tony Minnick, Midlothian, and Ronald Minnick, Bowling Green, Va.; one brother, Allen "Add" Minnick, Frostburg, one sister, Helen Brode, Frostburg; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Bill Dye, Eckhart. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted there Friday at 11 a.m. Military honors will be accorded by the Farrady Post #24 Honor Guard. The body will be cremated following the services. Inurnment will be in the Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap. Memorials may be directed to his son, Lawrence Anthony Minnick, P.O.
