- Robert E. Dean, 68, of 307 National Highway, LaVale, died Sunday in Lions Manor Nursing Home where he had been a patient ten days. He had been in ill health the past year. Born September 1, 1906, near Frostburg, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Clara (Crowe) Dean. Mr. Dean was a retired branch manager of the Hygienic Sanitation Company and a co-owner of Dean's Business Service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church, Cumberland Lodge 63 BPO Elks, LaVale Lions Club, United Commercial Travellers, and served as secretary-treasurer of the West Virginia Pest Control Operators Association for 14 years. Surviving are his widow, Pearl (Wilson) Dean, and three sisters, Mrs. Nannie Wilson, Mrs. Nellie Drumm and Mrs. Martha Cole, all of Cumberland. Friends will be received at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence. Services will be conducted there Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jack R. Pease officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. The Elks will hold a memorial service today at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be William Aumiller, Charles B. Holtzman, Albert Comer, Harold Wagner, Walter Beeche, and Col.
