- FROSTBURG — Mrs. Mary H. Layman, 86, formerly of Borden Shaft, died yesterday at the Dulaney-Towson Nursing Home, Towson, where she had been a patient 16 months. She had been in failing health two years. Born in Shaft, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Gibson) Harvey. Her husband, Ernest Layman Sr. preceded her in death. She was a member of the Shaft Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Milton R. Smith and Mrs. Charles I. Norris, both of Towson; one son, Lt. Col. Ernest Layman Jr., Ft. George G. Meade; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body will be returned to the Durst Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. A service will be conducted there tomorrow at 1 p.m. Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate and interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. The Cumberland Sunday Times, July 24, 1967
