- April 1 - Mrs. Mary Elsie Diehl, 57, wife of Russell C. Diehl, 120 Frost Avenue, died last night in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, where she underwent an operation several weeks ago. She was admitted to the institution March 13. Mrs. Diehl belonged to Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church, the Ladies Auxillary of the congregation and the Frostburg Homemakers Club. In addition to her husband, she leaves her mother, Mrs. Anna Louise Layman, Frostburg; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Wilson, Cumberland; two sons, Harvey and Robert Diehl, both of Baltimore; five sisters, Mrs. Nellie Burns, Mrs. Annie Neat and Mrs. Ada Koelker, Cumberland; Mrs. Oma Wolfe, Hagerstown, and Mrs. Ruth Davis, Frostburg; five brothers, Ernest and George Layman, Borden Shaft; Robert Layman, Detroit: Benjamin Layman, Syracuse, and Lawrence Layman, Alexandria, Va., and four grandchildren.
