  Notes	FROSTBURG — Olive M. (Loar) Wilson, 90, of Frostburg, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at WMHS Frostburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born May 3, 1921, in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late Upton and Dorothy (Wright) Loar. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Loar, and her daughter, Dorothy (Wilson) Ross. Olive was a fun-loving, hard-working, people caring kind of person. Growing up in Eckhart she had a lot of friends, friends with whom she especially enjoyed going roller-skating. In her late teens and early 20’s, she dreamed of owning her very own home. Finally her dream came true. She and her husband, George Wilson, moved into a fixer-upper in Frostburg. And it was Olive’s father who did the fixing up, which added to the sentimental value of the home. Olive stayed in that house until she suffered a debilitating stroke on Dec. 1, 2010. Most likely, Olive’s favorite room in the home was her kitchen, where she whipped up delicious meals and baked superb cakes like red velvet and pound cakes. At any time, visitors could knock on her door and know they would be welcome. Olive would invite the guests in, put water on to boil and have cake or ice cream on the table in no time at all. Even as a single mom working at G. C. Murphy’s in Frostburg, Olive’s house was immaculate and well organized. Into that home came many people that Olive cared about, relatives and friends too numerous to mention. The most important person to her was her daughter, Dottie. Then came the grandkids, Marnie, Michael, and Meredythe. With them the extended family continued to grow. Eventually there were great-grandchildren. People didn’t have to be blood-related, though, to be included in her family. She informally adopted Ellen and Steve Winninger and their two children as her kids and grandkids. She always appreciated how much this family did for her. Then when Dottie’s husband, Otto, remarried ten years after Dottie’s death, Olive claimed Otto’s new wife Katie as her daughter-in-law. Olive was a survivor too. She went through a bitter divorce and later lost her daughter Dottie, who was only 40 years old at the time, to cancer. Olive herself lived through a heart attack and colon cancer. But her Christian faith sustained her, and she went on with her life playing cards with her friends once a month, crocheting afghans for everyone, and reading her Bible and inspirational books. She always loved seeing all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren together at one time at the family gatherings. And she continued baking up to the time when she could no longer live in her home. Right after Thanksgiving of 2010, just days before her stroke, she baked her famous Hawaiian Wedding cake and brought it to the party. Olive is survived by three grandchildren, Marnie Milburn and husband Ray, of Annapolis, Meredythe Lint and husband Jason, of Mount Savage, and Michael Ross and wife Chrissy, of Little Orleans. Olive is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Chad Milburn, Tiffany Lint, Brianna Lint, and Devin Ross. Olive also leaves behind her son-in-law, Otto Ross and wife Katie, and Katie’s children, Tym and Holly Holwager. Olive Wilson will be missed by many. Family and friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the Durst Funeral Home P.A. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Jeffries officiating. Interment will be in the Eckhart Cemetery. Cumberland Times-News, February 3, 2012
