Dishong Sr. He died at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Frostburg on March 17, 1951, St. Patrick's Day. He was blessed with the gifts of love and laughter, and the orneriness of a Leprachaun. Greg never met a stranger. He was a wonderful caring, creative, generous, and giving man. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 42 and was a 1969 graduate of Beall High School. Greg was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Samuel F. Dishong, and grandmother, Marie Duckworth; and his maternal grandfather, Arthur Robison, and grandmother, Lucy Eleanor "Nell" Morris. He is survived by his mother, Anna Maxine Dishong, Moran Manor, Westernport. He leaves behind his wife, Karen Platter Dishong; sons, Vincent (Megan), Carlos, Robert Beachy, United States Navy, California; and daughters, Desiree Quinata (Rory), Inarajan, Guam, Anna Dishong (partner, Josh Swindle), Frostburg, Gena Fogle (Nick) Accident; and a numerous amount of cousins whom he dearly loved. His passion for reading and learning was unsurpassed. He loved and shared this vast wealth of knowledge with his grandchildren Emilee, Lexi, Gage, Trinity, Kelli, Gregory, Jack, Zach and Caleb, and anyone else who would listen. He is also survived by brothers, William Dishong Jr. (Claudia), Homestead, Fla., Roger Dishong (Kathryn), their children, Claire and Camille, Hamlin, N.Y.; brother-in-law, David Beal, Lighthouse, Fla., and daughters, Jennifer Bergeron, San Francisco, Calif., and Heather Beal, Lighthouse Point; and sister, Janet Householder (Steve) of Westernport, and their children, Nathan Householder (Sarah), Hagerstown, and Ryan Householder (Amanda), and son, Roland, Frostburg; and his loyal dog companion, Doogie; and his furry little cat, Fuzzy. He had previously worked at a data entry facility in Rockville, Sacred Heart Hospital, Kelly Springfield, and Blue Pine Springs, Inc. He then went in business for himself, "Kountry Kiln," expressing his creative genius by making and painting exquisite pieces of ceramic art and creating objects of clay. People knew him as the "Hairy Potter" of Garrett County. His retirement included spending time in the river at Little Orleans, and enjoying gathering bits of nature to include in making jewelry, dream catchers, Catholic rosaries and other beading projects. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds and exchanging quips and jokes with cousins and his many Facebook friends. History was one of his greatest passions especially learning about World War II since his father was an Army veteran. Family considered him a walking, talking library. He was a member of Eastern Garrett Fire Department for over 30 years, where he was the chef for their fundraising dinners and enjoyed calling Bingo. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Frostburg. Greg chose to donate his body to the Maryland State Anatomy Board with the hopes that the students studying his body will learn a way to help others. Greg has been loved with a love beyond all feeling and will be missed with a grief beyond all tears.
