- FROSTBURG - John Earl "Oak"Kerr, age 67, of 10405 Borden Road, N.W., died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at his residence. Born Oct. 21, 1931, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Martha (Phillips) Kerr. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Doris Ann Wright. Mr. Kerr was a retired orderly from the Cumberland Nursing Home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Frostburg. Surviving are one brother, Charles "Chill" Kerr and wife, Dorothy, Cumberland; one sister, Elner Powers and husband, James, Boise, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Diane Smith officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by Farrady Post #24 American Legion Honor Guard. In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Kerr will be cremated. Inurnment will be held in the Frostburg Memorial Park at a later date. Cumberland Times-News
