- CUMBERLAND — Earl “Butch” Folk, 83, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born April 12, 1928, in Cumberland, Mr. Folk was the son of the late Robert William Folk and Marie Helene (Seiler) Folk. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Merrill Folk; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A United States Army veteran of the Korean Era, Butch retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company on Greene Street, Cumberland, and was a member of the Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Neighborhood Housing Authority; a board member of Let’s Beautify Cumberland; and was active in the North Cumberland Crime Watch. Known to everyone as “Butch," he was a friend to all who met him. In his eyes, there were no strangers. Butch spent most of his time since retirement involved with “Let’s Beautify Cumberland.” He spent countless hours caring for the parklet at Queen City Drive and also spent time with the “Day of Caring and Sharing” projects as well as being involved in the North End Neighborhood Crime Watch. Butch was a go-getter who never tired of trying to improve his beloved Cumberland. He also loved fishing and football. Butch was an avid fan of Alco. He loved his Campers and rarely missed a game in over 50 years. Butch is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia (Lancaster) Folk; his daughter, Patricia M. Albright, Cumberland; his grandchildren, Heather M. Westfall and her husband, Joshua, Cresaptown, Eric J. Albright and Alex M. Albright, both of Cumberland; as well as his great-grandchildren, Brianna H. Westfall, Logan D. Westfall and Maylee G. Westfall, all of Cresaptown. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Metz officiating. Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honors Guard. Cumberland Times-News, September 21, 2011
