Notes |
- Judith Irene (Bower) Cannon, 69, of Cumberland, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center. Born Jan. 1, 1946, in Jumping Branch, W.Va., Mrs. Cannon was the daughter of the late John William Bower and Bonnie (Pack) Bower Cole. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Mark Cole. Judy was a 1963 graduate of Hinton High School. She went on to attend beauty school in Huntington, W.Va. In 1965, at a McDonald’s in Huntington, she met Bobby Cannon, the love of her life. They were married on May 13, 1966, in Cumberland. Judy worked for many years as a beautician at Alberta’s Beauty Salon, Cumberland, and then at Memorial Hospital in the food and nutrition services, where she touched the lives of everyone she met. Judy loved people and the qualities that made her life were kindness, generosity, and love. Judy had a great sense of humor. Judy’s favorite activity in retirement was to stir up big meals and have the family in, especially for cornbread and brown beans. Judy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bobby Cannon; her children, Bobby Cannon II and wife, April, Betsy Cannon and her significant other, Brandon, and John Cannon and his significant other, Brenda. She is also survived by her grandchildren, who filled her life with special joy, Erika, Lacey, Justyn, Ryan, Luke, Jessika, and Hayley. There are also others she loved just like her grandchildren, as well as, very close nieces, Trena Stoner and Wenda Lashbaugh, whom she felt were her own. Judy also leaves behind her sisters, Rita Keaton, Glasgow, W.Va., Lisa Mullins, Nimitz, W.Va., Bonnie Gail Tickle, Jumping Branch; and her brothers, Billy Cole, Nimitz, and Denton Cole, Pipestem, W.Va. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, June 26, 2015, at 4 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Lashbaugh officiating. A special thanks to Linda of Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a friend and coworker for over 30 years, who took extraordinary care of Judy. The Adams Family Funeral Home, Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements. Cumberland Times-News, June 24, 2015
