- ECKHART — Richard V. “Ted” Skidmore, 76, of Eckhart, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at the Martinsburg Veteran’s Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va. Born June 6, 1931, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Percy Everett Skidmore and Mary Catherine (Engle) Skidmore. Ted was also preceded in death by one brother, Ervin W. Skidmore. Mr. Skidmore was retired from Tri-State Roofing. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Wasp during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Evelyn (Wright) Skidmore; two daughters, Lisa Streets and husband Ronald, and Debbie Miller, all of Cumberland; two sons, John Skidmore and wife Betty, of Short Gap, W.Va., and Greg Skidmore and wife Barbara, of Eckhart; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Harry Dale Skidmore Sr. and wife Mary, of Eckhart, and Harold Skidmore and wife Carol, of Frostburg. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. Interment will be in the Eckhart Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Skidmore, John Skidmore, Ronald Streets Sr., Ronald Streets Jr., Harry Dale Skidmore Jr. and Chris Skidmore. Cumberland Sunday Times, August 19, 2007
