- Norma Fagan, 85, of Silver Spring, formerly of Frostburg, died Thursday, April 19, 2018. She was born Norma Lee Nelson on July 6, 1933, to the late Elvira and Andrew Nelson, Frostburg. She graduated valedictorian from Beall High School Class of 1951 and then completed a bachelor's degree from Frostburg State Teachers College. She went on to receive a master's degree in education from University of Maryland and held positions as an elementary school teacher and principal. In 1968 she married Fredric G. Fagan. She dedicated her later life to Christian education and service, holding positions as both Director of Lay Ministries at Rockville United Methodist Church and as Executive Director of the Montgomery Avenue Women's Center. Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Fred, and her sister, Anna. Norma is survived by her two sons, William and Richard; two daughters-in-law, Meredith and Cassandra; and three grandchildren, Claire, Logan, and McKayla. Services will be held at Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jennifer Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Emmanuel United Methodist Cemetery, 29 Pocahontas Road, Frostburg. Memorial services will also be held in remembrance and celebration of Norma's life at Rockville United Methodist Church, 112 W. Montgomery Ave., Rockville, on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Martha Meredith officiating. Published in Cumberland Times-News on April 21, 2018

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew M. Nelson, Frostburg, announce the marriage of their daughter, Norma Lee, to Fredric G. Fagan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Galen Fagan, Jacksonville, Fla. The wedding took place in the Chevy Chase Methodist Church. Miss Nelson was given in marriage by her uncle, Clarence Richardson of Rockville. Mrs. Anna Crowe, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Julianna Crowe, niece of the bride, was flower girl. . . . Mrs. Fagan is the principal of the Clarksburg Elementary School in Montgomery County.
