    • Waneta H. Yoder, 89, of Cumberland died at her home on Friday, March 30, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Frances (Bone) Hunter and Edward Hunter. She was preceded in death by her long-time husband, John W. Yoder Sr. She is survived by her brother, William Hunter and wife, Pat; daughters, Linda Young and husband, Jerry, and Carol Abe and husband, Mark; sons, John Yoder and wife, Shelley, and Mark Yoder and wife, Diane; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Young, Breann D'Atri and husband, Sean, Lori Dudiak and husband, Cole, Lindsay Yoder, Jason Yoder and fiancée, Kate Mock, Johnathan Yoder, Jaclyn Yoder, Tyler Shimko, Kylie Head and husband, Austen, and Marissa Yoder and fiancé, Mike Rudin; and seven great-grandchildren. Born in Cumberland, she was a graduate of Allegany High School and lived in Allegany County her entire life. Waneta, with her husband, John, were the owners and/or founders of several local businesses: Walter N. Yoder and Sons, Potomac Metal and Supply, Pinto Utilities, Garland Petroleum, Tri State Mine and Mill, Lakewood and Windover Hills. Waneta loved spending time with her friends and family. She closely followed her family's activities, especially school programs and wrestling and was well known by many of the wrestlers and their families. Since 1958 she enjoyed her weekends on the South Branch with family and friends, including a special longtime friend, Charlynne Merritt. She was a familiar sight to those at Wagoner Farm in Springfield as she arrived each Saturday with her poodles. Waneta and John Yoder were two of the original campers at Blue Beach and were both active in Blue Beach Water Ski Show. Waneta was an accomplished water and snow skier. She will be greatly missed as a friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Doug Seaman officiating. Interment will be in Pinto Mennonite Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Young, Jason Yoder, Johnathan Yoder, Mike Rudin, Sean D'Atri, Cole Dudiak, and Austen Head. Published in Cumberland Times-News on March 31, 2018
