    • John Weldon Yoder, 77, of Bel Air, Cumberland, died on Sunday December 12, 2004, at Countryhouse Residence, Cumberland, MD. Born November 11, 1927 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Walter N. and Lillian “Peg” (Porter) Yoder and the stepson of Mary A. Yoder of Bel Air. A brother William Yoder preceded him in death. Mr. Yoder also known as “Gump” was a 1945 graduate of Allegany High School and a graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was owner of Walter N. Yoder & Sons, Inc. and Potomac Metal Supply. He was also an owner and founder of numerous other local businesses or real estate developments in the area including Lakewood and Windover Hills in WV, and Glen Oaks, Pinto Utilities, Tri-State Mine and Mill, and Garland Petroleum in MD. He was active in the community as a past president of the Lions Club and the Allegany Camper Club and member of the Frankfort High School Hall of Fame. Besides his stepmother he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Waneta (Hunter) Yoder, Two sons, John W. and wife, Shelley Yoder of Lakewood and Mark W. and wife, Diane of Lakewood. Two daughters, Linda F. and husband, Jerry Young of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Carol A. and husband Mark Abe of Ridgeley, WV. Ten grandchildren, Lori D. Yoder, Breann L. Mackey, Jeffrey W. Young, Lindsay D. Yoder, Kylie M. Yoder, Jason W. Yoder, Marissa N. Yoder, Tyler W. Shimko, Johnathan W. Yoder, Jaclyn M. Yoder. Also, surviving are two sisters, Velma Sullivan of Pinto and Helen Poe of Bel Air and a brother, Fred Yoder of Hunt Valley, MD, and a special friend, Herman Kammauff. Friends will be received at the Hafer Funeral Service, P.A. Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Hwy, LaVale on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harold R. McClay, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Pinto Mennonite Cemetery with military honors conducted by the combined Veteran honor guard. Pallbearers will be Charlie Gattens, Jay Kennell, Jason Yoder, Bill Hunter, Rick Merritt, Donald Yoder, Don “Meatball” Basilio, Herman Kammauff, and Jeff Young.
