    • Piedmont, W. Va. - C. Evers Smith, 84,13 Dundee St., Piedmont, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1992, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland. Born in Piedmont, Aug. 9, 1908, he was the son of the late Charles Henry Smith and Teresa (Inskeep) Smith. H e was retired from Westvaco's Luke Mill in 1972. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont, a 50 year member of Mount Carbon Lodge No. 28, AF&AM, Piedmont, the El Fidel Club, NRA, and the Hickory Hollow Hunting Camp. He was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys (Dawson) Smith in 1976 and one son, Harry R. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Hazel (Foster) Haywood Smith; two sons, Charles E. "Buck" Smith, Cumberland, Glenn C. Smith, Williamsport, Md.; one brother, Glenn C. "Tink" Smith, Piedmont; two sisters, Alma Coffman, Woodstock, Va., Louise Taylor, Portsmouth, Va.; one stepdaughter, Rita Devine, Reston, Va.; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Boal-Warnick Funeral Home in Westernport Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Rev. Meredith Ball and Rev. Sumner Sawyer. Interment will be in the Philos Cemetery in Westernport. The Mount Carbon Lodge No. 28, Piedmont, will act as pallbearers and conduct a memorial graveside service. Honorary pallbearers are John Lupis, Carl Bosley, Jim Roderick, James McHenry, Gary Cooper, Roy Webber, and Richard Beckner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Tri-Towns Rescue, or the American Board of Education's Scholarship Fund in memory of Harry R. Smith. The latter may be directed to the fund in care of Potomac State College, Keyser, W.Va. Cumberland Times-News, November 9, 1992
