- John D. Shroyer, 63, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Ellerslie, Md., died Friday, Oct. 1, 1993, at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron. He was born July 27, 1930, a son of the late George W. and Goldie S. (Lowery) Shroyer. He is survived by his wife, Helen C. (Neuwirth) Shroyer; one stepdaughter, Barbara L. Bivens and her husband Edwin, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two step-grandchildren, Bonnie Madigan and Robert Campbell; and six step-great- grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Noah E. Shroyer, LaVale, Md., and Gerald E. Shroyer, Jacksonville, N.C.; two sisters, Marjorie W. Handschumaker, Cumberland, Md., and Betty J. Beal, Ellerslie, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Shroyer was employed as an automation tender at the Walton Hills Division of Ford Motor Co. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of United Auto Workers Local 420. Funeral services: Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, with the Rev. Rebecca J. Vardiman officiating. Burial in the Porter Cemetery near Ellerslie. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. The Bedford Gazette, October 4, 1993
