- FROSTBURG - John F. "Pex" Rizer, 76, of 1605 Meadowbrook Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, died Dec. 17 in Casa Grande Medical Center, Ariz. Born in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Alfred and Lucy (Pate) Rizer. Mr. Rizer had resided in Youngstown since 1951 and was retired from the Republic Steel Corporation. He retired from the U. S. Marines in 1948, having served 20 years. He was a member of the Hitchcock Woods Christian Church and AARP 454. Surviving are his widow, Lena V. (Martens) Rizer; two daughters, Mrs. Linda McClelland, Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. Shirley Lee, Salem, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Green, Midland; Mrs. Ruth Rose, Cumberland, and Mrs. Irveen Albright, Baltimore, and two grandchildren. After twenty years in the Marine Corps, John P. Rizer has returned home and is residing with his wife, the former Miss Lena Marten, at the home of her mother, Mrs. Emma Marten, 93 Washington Street. Rizer, son of the Mrs. Alfred Rizer, Zihlman, retired August 1 from government service. He enlisted December 13, 1928 and served overseas, was wounded at Okinawa, and made several trips across the ocean during and after the war. The Cumberland Evening Times, September 13, 1948
