  Notes	FROSTBURG - Elmer Wilbert Rice, 62, of 166 West Main St., Frostburg, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at the V.A. Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va. Born on March 12, 1938, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late William E. and Myrtle A. (Winebrenner) Rice. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William G. Rice and Russell F. "Ruge" Rice; and one sister, Ruby C. "Boots" Ryan. Mr. Rice retired in February 1999 as a route salesman for Valley Beverage, Corrigansville, and he was an U.S. Air Force veteran, where he served in Hawaii and Guam. He was a member of the Saint George's Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, Frostburg Moose Lodge #348, a life member and past president, chief and treasurer of the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Department and captain of the former drill team of the Mount Savage Fire Company. Surviving are his wife, Margie (Walsh) Rice, St. Vincent dePaul Nursing Center; three sons, Robert J. Willingham and wife JoAnn, Corrigansville, and Earl William Rice and fiancee Rene Nesselrodt, Fort Ashby, W.Va., and Donald E. Rice and friend Dale Weir Jr., Mount Savage; one daughter, Debra A. Albright and husband Edward, Frostburg; one granddaughter, Ashley Rice; six grandsons, Brent, Adam and Ryan Willingham, Brandon Cobb, Derick Often and Branson Rice; two brothers, Donald C. Rice and wife Mary and Patrick Shimko and wife Donna, all of Mount Savage; two sisters, Shirley Kenney and husband Thomas D., Mount Savage, and Hilda Shimko, Akron, Ohio; two daughters-in-law, Debra L. (Twigg) Rice, Mount Savage, and Maxine Rice, Cumberland; and also surviving are his dearest friend, Janice Werner and family, Frostburg. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Members of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 348 will hold a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ian Thomson officiating. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery at Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brent Willingham, Brandon Cobb, Dale Williams, John "J.T." Werner, Jeff Shimko and Joe Kenney. Honorary pallbearers will be Ashley Rice, Branson Rice, Derick Often, Adam Willingham and Ryan Willingham. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society of the St. George's Episcopal Church, 12811 St. George's Lane, N.W., Mount Savage, MD 21545. He was buried on 14 Dec 2000 in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland.
