  Notes	Donald Curtis Rice, 81, of Frostburg, formerly of Mt. Savage, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at WMHS Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center. Born November 8, 1932 in Mt. Savage, he is the son of William E. Rice and Myrtle Winebrenner. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary E. Rice; three brothers, William G. Rice, Russell F. Rice, and Elmer W. Rice; and three sisters, Hilda S. Shimko, Ruby C. Ryan and Shirley C. Kenney. Don is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Don was retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict; and a Life Member of the following organizations, VFW Post 6025, Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Mt. Savage Volunteer Fire Company, Piney Mountain Sportsman Club and Evergreen Hunting Club. A member of Kemp Lodge 154 A.F. & A.M., and Scottish Rite; and a fifty-year member of Cresaptown Eagles. Surviving is one stepson, Arthur D. Green and wife Brenda, Freemont, CA; one nephew, Patrick Shimko and wife Donna, Mt. Savage; two grandchildren, John Green and Tony Gunter; and two step-grandchildren, Zoe Gunter and Payton Gunter. Also surviving are his great and great-great nephews, Jeffrey C. Shimko, Tyler W. Shimko, Patrick Dylan Paul Shimko, Andrew Curtis Shimko, and Ashton Jay Shimko. Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg on Thursday, January 2, 2013 from 4 to 6 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Durst Funeral Home on Friday, January 3, 2013 at 11am with Vicor Theresa Brion and Pastor Joe Penick officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone. Military Honors will be accorded by members of VFW Post 6025 Mt.
