CUMBERLAND — Mary Maxine Rice, 92, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born Sept. 15, 1919, Cumberland, Mrs. Rice was the daughter of the late Christopher Rowan and Viola Mae (Spidel) Rowan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William G. Rice Sr., Dec. 13, 1990; a brother, Eugene C. Rowan; a sister, Virginia M. Hiett; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A homemaker, Mrs. Rice was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Glen J. Rice, Cumberland, and William “Buddy” Rice Jr. and his wife, Mary Jo, Corriganville; her daughters, Christine M. Emerick and her husband, William and Billie Jean Eaton; all of Cumberland; her grandchildren, Glenda Budz, Jennie Miller, Brian Weaver, Elizabeth Weaver, Carrie Toliver, Clinton Rice, Susan Rice, Edward Rice, and Edie Rice; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Klink officiating.
Interment will be held at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. Cumberland Times-News, November 10, 2011
