- KITZMILLER, April 9 — Joseph Arthur Beals, 61, died Monday night at Burlington, W. Va., while enroute to his home here from Memorial Hospital, Winchester, Va., in an ambulance. He became ill as he was returning from visiting his children in Middle River, Md., over the Easter holidays and had to be taken to the hospital before continuing the trip. Mr. Beals was born November 19, 1885, at Dolomite, Ala., a son of the late Andrew and Mary Ann (Tibbetts) Beals. He was a local barber here for many years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Cora Levene (Morehead) Beals; four children, Mrs. Virginia Rohrbaugh and Glen and Joseph A. Beals, Jr., Middle River, and Otis Beals, Chestertown; a sister, Mrs. Minnie McKean, Kitzmiller, and two grandsons. Other survivors include his stepfather, W. D. Walker, Kitzmiller; three half-brothers, Jesse Walker, Shallmar; Daniel Walker, Fairmont, W. Va., and Clark Walker, Wheeling, W. Va., and six half-sisters, Mrs. Verba Wright, Charleston, W. Va.; Mrs. Katherine Marshall, Shallmar; Miss Ruth Walker, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Beulah Wheeler, Fairmont, and Mrs. Caroline Wilson and Mrs. Dixie Wilson, both of Kitzmiller. The body is at the residence here. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p. m. in Mt. Bethel Methodist Church with Rev. J. H. Hardesty, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Elk Garden, W. Va. The Cumberland Evening Times, April 9, 1947
