George W. Burley, 91, formerly of Stringtown, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at Devlin Manor Health Care Center, Cumberland, Md. He was born March 12, 1915, in Hyndman, a son of the late William Nelson and Orpha Blanche (Madden) Burley. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Rawlin, Floyd, Clyde and Raymond Burley and sisters: Edna McCray, Helen and Charolette Burley, and Dorothy Perkey. George is survived by a brother, Kenneth Burley and wife, Betty of Ellerslie, Md. and many nieces and nephews. He was a member of Cooks Mills United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Julie Applegate officiating. Burial will be private at Cooks Mills Cemetery. The Bedford County Enquirer, February 9, 2007
