- William R. Ricker, 77, of 206 Park Street, a retired Western Maryland Railway telegraph operator, died last night at his home. He had been in ill health since March. Mr. Ricker was a native of St. Thomas, Pa., born September 14, 1880, a son of the late Ambrose P. and Margaret (Conner) Ricker. He had been employed here as a telegrapher for 44 years and retired about 13 years ago. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Wonn (Porter) Ricker, three daughters, Mrs. Leda Hanna, Baltimore; Mrs. Wilda Hughes, Clarksburg, and Mrs. Mary Ruth Smith, at home. He also leaves two grandsons, Robert K. Smith Jr., at home, and William Bennett, Clarksburg; five sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Morris, Mrs. Maude Cranford and Miss Mildred Ricker all of Cumberland; Mrs. Carrie Martin, Akron, and Mrs. Annabelle Webster of Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, Alvin Ricker of Youngstown. The body will be at the residence on Park Street after 7 p. m. today. The family has requested that flowers be omitted.
